Glenn Beck: 'Fascism Is on the Rise' (Video)

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

Fox News’s new darling, Glenn Beck, broke new, rabble-rousing ground last night when he claimed the government is leading the United States straight into fascism.

Beck, who hopped to Fox earlier this year following a career at CNN, has long said that the nation is marching toward socialism, but "admitted" last night that he’s been wrong. We’re not going in that direction at all, but we are headed down a far more frightening path.

Said Beck, via Think Progress:

It all adds up to me, having to admit that I was wrong. Our government is not marching down the road towards communism or socialism … But now I have to tell you that they’re not marching us that direction. They’re marching us to a brand of non-violent fascism. Or to put it another way, they’re marching us to 1984. Big Brother … Like it or not, fascism is on the rise.

Beck highlighted his point by running footage of the Nazis and then flashing a picture of Fed head honcho Ben Bernanke. But it’s not all doom and gloom, because our brand of fascism has a "happy face." Way to keep it upbeat, Beck!

No……because they are only happy when they can FORCE everyone else to live like that, too.   My god — they justify the invasion of a foreign country (Iraq) based on lies and now can keep a straight face and state that the Iraqi people are happier now that we have demolished their country.   Hmmm…..but, maybe if we threw in some of the Southern states?

Naomi Wolf thinks steel doesn’t melt! I bet Limbaugh (hey he lived in Pittsburgh for awhile) knows that steel can melt!!!

If that’s the case too bad Limbaugh doesn’t stick to what he ‘knows’ and stop talking about politics. I guess dropping out of college gave him a PhD in anything he feels like blabbering about eh? I’m beginning to think one of the first requirements to become a FOX hack is to be sure they have no educational credentials to back of the drivel they spouting on air. Like Beck, Hannity and Limbaugh.

Rachel (I am still shaking my head here..) There are known so blind as those that will not see (or read their own posts). There is ONE truth…THEIR truth. A scary mindset that any differing opinion is, without reading it, reasearching it, or even acknowledging it as valid or discussable…WRONG!!! Funny Rachel, but I knew of Naomi Wolfe’s “theories” because even though I don’t agree with them, I have read them previously…so I feel confident in commenting on them in a public forum. Yet, others will assail Limabaugh, Beck, Fox News et al, WITHOUT EVER LISTENING, WATCHING, OR READING their assembled work. Ironic, huh?

Indeed, Mary! The funniest part is how some of the most insulated minds tend to rail about the "closed-mindedness" of conservatives. The simple truth is that a diet of ideas and comments by those who agree with you doesn’t constitute broad opinions and a well rounded mind. Too bad that so many people can’t understand that; maybe if someone on their side said it… ;)

I hate to always repeat the same statement, mantra…but “Group Think” comes to mind. And I think someone on their side has called them out…Camille Paglia, a very proud liberal and Obama suppprter, routinely is intellectually honest and heavily critiques left and right. I read her (liberal) column off a link from the(conservative) DrudgeReport. Some, can agree to disagree and merits on boths sides. Not so with (here I go again) “Group Thinkers.”

Yup. You’ll never know the merits of what you think (or don’t think) unless you are open to discussion. It’s the only way humanity has ever progressed. Too bad the point is lost on so many of the "progressives". :P

You want to know why I made it a point to (now) routinely tune into Limbaugh? When President Obama told the Republican Senate leadership “not to listen to Limbaugh, if they wanted to get anything done.”. And I thought, what is Rush saying? What has he done? I better find out…FOR MYSELF so I turned on his show. FWIW, if you have a chance visit the British press…fascinating the alternate takes they have on all things Obama…very funny (and ironic stuff).

Mary:  “Group Think”

E-mails from the Obama team feed and nurture this Group Think.  Pretty soon he’ll be asking them for money again, if he hasn’t already.  The 2010 elections are coming up.

I’ve enjoyed your comments about fascism, and Rachel and deber’s as well.  Enlightening and a bit scary.

Is it just me — or do you think the thread is deteriorating?  =)

When you stop getting your ‘truth’ from radio hosts who’s only ‘credentials’ are that they have no shame and will say anything to attract the attention of the lowest common denominator in our society, THEN you will have a better understanding as to why other people do not take this garbage seriously.

Actually, DeBurca, I don’t listen to Limbaugh. I don’t watch ORielly (I don’t even like O’Rielly!). I don’t often tune into Fox News; I spend more time on Huffington Post (which is a trip, I can tell you…) than I do watching Fox. I prefer written news to watching TV (easier to get more facts in less time). I read lots of viewpoints, left and right wing. See, I’m not afraid to challenge my thinking; I like to hear what other people are saying. It’s how you grow and learn.

Someone please pour Beck a drink, his "dry" paranoia is wearing thin.
