Homeland 'Domestic Extremism Lexicon' Included Pro-Life Groups

Homeland Security wrote a confidential ‘domestic extremism lexicon.’
By The Staff at wowOwow.com

The Department of Homeland Security penned — and then chopped — an extremism dictionary to accompany their report on so-called right-wing extremist groups.

The Department and its head, Janet Napolitano, came under fire for the report, but will no doubt be criticized for the "extremist lexicon," which includes entries on "Christian Identity," which is apparently a movement that believes non-Jewish whites are God’s chosen people, and black power.

Another entry that’s no doubt going to ruffle some feathers? "Antiabortion extremism," which the Department defines as:

A movement of groups or individuals who are virulently antiabortion and advocate violence against providers of abortion-related services, their employees and their facilities. Some cite various racist and anti-Semitic beliefs to justify their criminal activities.

A spokesperson for Homeland Security insisted that the list "is not, nor was it ever, in operational use," and not part of the intelligence and analysis office.

You can download the entire dictionary from the Washington Times.

Anyone who advocates violence like this against someone is an extremist; as long as HS differentiates between normal people who oppose abortion and extremists (which they did), where’s the problem?

Exactly.   It amazes me that the very people on this board who support the unauthorized wiretaps and waterboarding — are the ones who get so upset about the groups which are put on a HomeLand Securities list.   Makes no sense whatsovever………

Janet Napolitano is so in over her head at Homeland Security.

The constant back pedaling; explaining, re-explaining the initial explanations are growing tiresome.

Are there domestic terror groups?  No doubt yes.  Are they varied from White Supremists to Islamists to Black Powerists, yes.  I would like to read the entire report (I read the initial 9 page, two hour download pdf—btw—who at HS thought THAT format was ‘user friendly’ couldn’t be that they want to make the information harder to access?  Nah…but I digress).  The entire report would either make the ‘Christian Identity’ line make sense (relative to Jihadists, Black Surpemists, Nazi, etc).  However, if a generic ‘Christian Identity’ was used…well…maybe it is time (again) for Napolitano to return back to Arizona.  How many explanations will be made to explain that theory?

I still wonder, how in the heck she got the job…

pdf—btw—who at HS thought THAT format was ‘user friendly’ couldn’t be that they want to make the information harder to access?

PDF is the best way to diseminate documents on the internet.  It is searchable, compact, and easily readable.  It is the best technology available today to get a document to every and all individuals regardless of the software on their machines or the operating system they run.  I am a Software Engineer, I know of what I speak.

I remember el Rusbo going on a rant about PDF being only images and not searchable, etc.  He was absolutely 100% wrong.

Varying formats can and should be offered.  With little additional expense.  For those who primarily use mobile devices (blackberries/smart phones), pdf is almost unusable.  That, I would guess, would Limbaugh’s criticism.  In an 11 trillion budget, making multiple formats available would make the files more accessible to all at a negligible expense.

PDF is the best available format on Earth.  It can be used on PC, Mac, Linux, Unix, Blackberry, iPhone, SmartPhones, etc. etc. etc. There is no better format available for distributing usable information to the world electronically.

As for Limbaugh, he was just plain 100% wrong, as always.

If you need a hand understanding Portable Document Files I’d be happy to help you.  I’ve been coding for 30 years this June.

Rebecca, I know you are right, some just want to knock the Obama administration anyway they can. The trouble is they don’t know S—T about computers, files, ect. so when they speak its just drivel, you would probably get the same responce from Michelle Bachmann.

Wow, that’s a pretty strong statement.  The coders I know would NEVER put that much faith into one program.  I think MQC just wanted it in another format.. does it make you feel superior to attack one small part of her post?

how did i attack her?  I offered to help her?

Rebecca, doesn’t PDF format also somewhat "certify" the contents because of the non-editable format that is often time and date stamped? I do bookkeeping, and I know the IRS will accept PDF docs in cases where word or excel docs are not acceptable, because they can be edited.

Yes, PDF can be "Signed & Certified."  There are numerous Security and Trust Management features available with PDF.  This is above and beyond it’s ability to be used on all computing platforms.  PDF = Portable Document Format and it truly is Portable.

I am defending PDF because about a month ago Rush Gasbag ranted on and on and on about PDF documents and every single thing he said about them was 100% wrong.  So now all the ditto heads out there are echoing his BS and they don’t know what they are talking about.  So, because I feel bad for them I want to educate them rather then have them look foolish, but they usually don’t want to listen.

Mary, I still don’t know how she got the job.   She is certainly a weak link.    Homeland Security of all places for her to land!

starry Nite

Homeland security had everyright to identify anyone who kills other people such as the abortion clinic bombers and those who do harm to staffers are doctors who have performed abortions.

People who call themselves christians have been involved with extremists.  I don’t think they are any different than Jihadists , black extremists or Nazi groups.  All are destructive.  If the shoe fits wear it.

This report was prepared by the prior adminstration but Janet Napolitano is in charge now.    Good luck Janet.

Spot on starry Nite. These people exist, they pose a threat and need to be identified. This isn’t about being pc, it’s about doing the job, which is exactly what Napolitano is doing.
