House Minority Whip Eric Cantor Makes Buck off Britney Spears

One may think the last place the Republican Party would try to raise money is at a Britney Spears concert. But as it turns out, that’s where House Minority Whip Eric Cantor was on the night President Obama gave his second prime-time address.

As Britney "descended from the rafters in black vinyl dominatrix boots, a red ringmaster’s jacket and not a whole lot else, a bejeweled whip in her hands" (Washington Post has more on Britney’s show) at the start of her concert at the Verizon center, Cantor, R-VA, was there raising money for his campaign. He must have had high hopes for the concert, because Cantor reportedly left a House GOP annual fundraiser to take in some of the pop diva’s show.

"If suffering through a Britney Spears concert will raise one more dime to help Republicans take back the House, then I’m glad Cantor’s willing to do it," one House Republican leadership aide told The Huffington Post.

Wonkette, which first reported on Cantor’s "suffering," said Sen. Mary Landireu, D-LA, was also there, but her staff later told The Huffington Post that was not the case.

Of course the blogs are having a field day with the news.

Gawker’s headline over a picture of Britney whipping her dancers into submission says: "If U Seek Bipartisan Solutions to America’s Problems."

Jossip’s story, headlined "GOP Whip Chooses Britney Spears Over Fixing America," says "Yes we can be derelict of duty! While the rest of the nation watched President Barack Obama talk about what the hell is wrong with America and how best to go about fixing it last night, House Minority Whip — that means republican! — Eric Cantor, from Virgineeee, instead went and got his rocks off at a Britney Spears concert."

The Republicans in Congress are so busy campaigning for the next election they are doing absolutely NOTHING as far as governing during an economic crisis. It’s appalling.

Thats because they have nothing to offer except their negativity.

Negativity and fear. Besides, how do you sell an ideology of "we want to make this the United Corporations of American and once we wipe out our once vital Middle Class we can do so"? Hard plan to sell, don’t you think? Best to just offer negativity and straw men!

What is it about Cantor and Cheney they both have that smirky sneer is it part of the requirements to join the GOP?  Well I’m glad he enjoyed the concert but is out there complaining about what Obama is doing and how they could do things so much better.  Wouldn’t you think he would want to listen to Obama and hear what he has to say seeing as he does so much complaining about Obama and his plans?  Still, when they don’t have any answers I guess they can ignore the plight of the country and have a good old time at a concert.

Next time someone complains about Barack Obama going somewhere and doing something in the evening because he should be in the office working I’ll remember to bring this up, LOL

When the Republicans start doing some work for this country instead of political posturing and obstructionism, maybe people won’t criticize them for ignoring a presidential press conference in the middle of an economic crisis.

C.  Barack Obama going somewhere and doing something in the evening because he should be in the office working…

I hope you know the difference between being the POTUS and a Rep. from Virginia…  It’s up to the people from Virginia to take Cantor up on this.  It’s up the the people of the US to keep tabs on Obama.  Velly, velly big difference.

He’s not just a Rep.  He Minority Whip, the second highest minority leadership office in the House of Representatives thus he is in charge of "Herding the Cats" known as Republicans in the House of Representatives.

Still waiting for the better ideas from their side….
