Many of our soldiers that were killed in Iraq were killed by Iranians or insurgents funded by Iran. It is not a secret. My Iranian friends tell me that in no case should we do this (and they are ardent Obama supporters). They claim that Achmedinajad and the clerics only want to see the U.S. embarrassed and brought to it’s knees. I just hope the president has a long term plan. This isn’t basketball, it is a dirty game of chess.
I am all for it so long as they stop funding to have our soldiers in Iraq killed, as well as running many of the kidnapping rings. The Iranian people are wonderful people, but their government funds many of the worst crimes of torture against the Iraqis. If their press were allowed to expose it, nothing would change, they would just keep on doing it. How many women have they killed? One of my Iranian friends who I am the closest to had a brother-in-law with a drug problem, the special police just came and picked him up, told the wife he was going to help them, and then came back a week later demanding money for the cost of the bullets it cost to kill her husband. They say they have no gay members of society, well maybe some are hidden, but they are systematically killed. Rebecca was right to describe Iran as oppressive.
War is not the answer, but do the Iranians know that?
Frannie Em: I’ve read your two posts, sent directly to me, but I am confused because what you refer to, though very interesting, has nothing to do directly with anything I have posted on this thread. Are you possibly confusing my messages with someone else’s?
My post and all the kind replies reminded me of my most favorite story. It was around March 2003 and I was still living in my hometown of NYC. It was a perfect storm of friends from around the world all being in NYC at the same time and my friend Daniella from Amsterdam was staying in my Apt yet again. I decided I had to throw one of my famous "Becca Parties" because so many people where in town at the same time.
I stood in my kitchen overlooking the party and realized that I could hear Spanish, German, Swedish, Dutch, Arabic and English spoken with a variety of accents all being spoken among all the various people. I saw Daniella and smiled. That’s when she stood up and loudly proclaimed, "I love coming to Becca’s. It’s like the U.N. only we all get along so well and she serves drinks."
It got me thinking. Maybe that’s what the U.N. needs. A Bar. Rip out that auditorium seating, put in a dance floor, lighting, a killer sound system and bars and let everyone behave like Human beings. Dance and Music is the oldest form of Human communication for a reason. Perhaps that will bear more fruit among Global Human Relations.
It was indeed a very dangerous thing that Obama did and that has been made even more evident by Iran’s response. It would be wonderful if the whole world had peace Kryssi but there are those who believe that unless we all worship the same way they do - we need to be exterminated. Freedom is not welcome in those countries of any kind and the people are so down trodden by the government they are not allowed to think for themselves.
The only reason Iran has not gone nuclear before this is because of our United States. The pressure that has been put on them (mostly by America) has stopped this from happening. I also have to tell you that if they do - you should expect an immediate reaction from Israel. They will bomb that facitility.
Iran is not a country that is run by people who are reasonable. They are religious zealots and rule with an iron hand. They do not want people of any other faiths in their areas and they want Israel gone and that means the Jewish people who live there. Not just gone - exterminated the way Germany tried to do. Some sects of the Muslim faith have also gone as far as to believe that if you kill those (again mostly aimed at America) who do not beleive what you believe (suicide bombers) and die doing it your honor in the eyes of Allah is greatly increased! You become in your death a martyr and are worshipped and celebrated! True! They almost be come another ‘God’ to their people. Again this is all due to the education they were not allowed to have. All based on their understanding of the Koran.
The Muslim faith is actually based on peace and love. However the rulers of some countries all take it a different way just as Christians can have different understandings of the Bible.
Excellent post! Thank you for pointing out that the Muslim faith is one of peace and love. Just as you say, it is the radicalism that that gives it a bad name.
Muslims believe the word peace means they have killed all of their enemies and no one is left to oppose their oppressive theocracy. Guess who their enemies are?
Just a quick note. I’m Jewish and my best friend is Muslim. He faith is one of peace and love. She will tell you that the muslims of the middle east behave the way they do because of ARABIC beliefs and culture. They have nothing to do with the Islamic religion. As a student of history I agree, all of the ARABIC culture and medival treatment of their women come from this region. The Islamic faith is not practiced this way in other countries around the globe, only in the middle east. (my bf was originally from Trinidad)

Just a thought.

A bar and a great band, but most important - transparency that gets rid of all the corruption.

Libra: …Muslims…
And it’s always better to be a man if you’re a Muslim. Depending on the country, their women are on a short leash and one step up from a slave.
Guess who their enemies are?
The Infidels… like you and I.
this tea and toast offer makes us look very weak!!!
