Hasn’t the U.S. always been holding the Olive branch, theoretically? Just a thought…

Yes, the U S has always been holding the Olive branch, that’s coming from the culture!

The Mullahs are still laughing at Obama’s branch !

When is this American Idol going to stop being a Washington pawn and start thinking for himself?

I doubt 4 years is going to be long enough to teach him something about Diplomatie ?

Long way until the Olive branch comes out from Israel!

Just have to add a special casual comment on this thread. I found the subject matter to be very interesting, first of all, and the collection of interesting comments posted by the WOW’ers only served to increase my interest exponentially. I know there have been other subjects which have received more postings than this one, but to me, the intensity, quality and sincerity of the comments has moved me to return to these pages several times…and I guess I have not yet done with my return visits. It has been more than a little interesting to read the reactions to the question. I truly raise my glass to all the WOW’ers for offering such a diversity of interesting reactions to a very interesting. and obviously, sensitive subject. (Please accept these words only as “casual comments”, from an “ordinary man off the streets” - so to speak).

I have been impressed by WOW’s equal opportunity; basically neutral posting policies (save unflattering George W. Bush photos—but BDS is rampant and highly contagious on the web). That is why I finally decided to post here. When differing, strong opinions are exchanged, minds (and hearts) are openned to new ways of seeing things. If there is no dissent, no challenge presented to an idea, dangerous “group think” “mob rule” ensues. What chills me is when I read (here or on other sites I visit/post at) the blind devotion; hero worship; politician as rock star as icon mentality…I don’t know if we are revisiting Germany’s rise of the Third Reich or a middle school lunch table. I fear the former and pray for the “growing out phase” of the later. M Q-C

Well, I think it’s another amazing "first " for Barack Obama.  Add it to not only being the first black man to be President, but also the first black man to ever be accused of lying for saying his mother was on food stamps!

Barack Obama is not a black man!! He is white and black…mulatto i beleive is the right word Gramma j..suppose to be a president for all but it seems he is veiwed by the blacks as a president for them only. So far i can see that might be so as i never heard of a black caucus in washintong to tell any president what to do…i never heard of a white caucus…have you??? He cannot deny his true ancestry. And i am still wondering about the legitamacy of his birth certificate ….since he himself said he was born abroad!!

It’s a really senseless argument that I don’t want to get into AGAIN, but do you realize that President Obama’s maternal family were, and his grandfather still is, longtime residents of Hawaii?  They moved there while their daughter was still a teenager.  And his mother was not exactly unknown!  It’s so ludicrous; if you have children, imagine how crazy it would make you, when you introduced someone as your son or daughter, to have the person you are introducing them to say "What a liar! That’s not her kid!"  And then proclaim that you, and your parents, don’t actually know where your own children were born.  I know it would light me up!  What’s worse is that President Obama’s mother is dead, so of course that makes it that much easier for the flaming ignorant twits.

I KNOW President Obama’s heritage, I took the time to learn about the candidates before I voted.  I’ve believed he was the best choice for president since his speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention.  And I was right!

Gramma j you did not have take time to learn…the man told you himself!! I still say there is great controversy over his birth place…and having said that this was already debated on Rush Limbaughs talk show and no one could prove the legitamacy of his birth certificate  not yet any way.

ok so they moved to hawaii…she and her family were still white. And his daddy was a black man. Are you trying to say he is not part white? The word flame as you used it makes me wonder about who you hang around with. When i voted i beleived i voted for the right person too and still do!!

Sorry Gramma J, They are both dead, Obama’s parents, so there would be no reason or able argument to contend the real nature of his birthplace. Although true that in your words, his mother being "Not exactly unknown" comes from a rather negative conotation, as she was "Well known" by many men!

BTW, will add that should Obama decide to become forthright with his (Original) birth certificate, as all potential Presidential candidates are required, he would most certainly put to rest these unanswered questions. He refuses to do so. Therefore the people will continue to speculate that something is amiss………and rightfully so!

You could say that it’s unfair there is a Miss Black America pageant and college scholarships for children that are only of color.  The same could be said for Hispanics. The Congressional Black Caucus has been around for a while as have others.

I’m curious, are you suggesting that we should be afraid of any non-white who gains elected office in this country?

What does the color of a person’s skin have to do with wanting to try and workout issues, either across party lines or international lines?

yea i could say that…but so far as pulling the racist card out and saying that we should be afraid of ANYONE who gains an elected office..is not a statement i made…you did!!
