Jim Cramer Appears on 'Today,' Pushes Back at Stewart (Video)

CNBC host Jim Cramer has been getting a lot of heat this week, especially for his remarks that Obama staffers have been acting like "amateurs" in their approach to the economy. In addition to taking flack from the White House, Cramer’s antics also drew the ire of "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart.
Not one to sit on his proverbial hands, Cramer took to the "Today" show this morning to explain himself. And, in a move that may surprise some, Cramer admitted to making some mistakes, including having the CEO of Wachovia, who is now under SEC investigation, on his show.
Cramer also discussed policy, and insisted the president must focus as much energy as possible on the economy, rather than try to diversify on issues like stem cells. Fellow CNBC anchor Erin Burnett agreed. As for Stewart, who has criticized Cramer for telling people to invest in Bear Stearns, which later collapsed, Cramer says, "Any time you recommend a stock and it goes down, you’ve made a mistake. Here’s a shocker: Almost every stock is down!" He also takes a shot by calling Stewart a "comedian" who hosts a "variety show."

Jim Cramer is not alone in getting it wrong, and Stewart is absolutely right to point out, like only he can, with intelligence and humor, that all the CNBC hosts gave wall street a pass in order to gain access. Plus, everyone was making gobs of money, who wants to rain on that parade ?
The few people who WERE trying to raise a red flag were seen as kooks. What is going on here is major cover your ass - keep your credibility.
Keep pulling the curtain back on the wizards, Jon !
Cramer is incapable of ever being quiet and, the more he talks, the bigger fool he becomes. I applaud Jon Stewart for calling him out along with Santelli and some others on CNBC. The most dangerous thing in an economic crisis is denial.
Cramer refers to Stewart as a "comedian" in much the same way that Michael Steele referred to Limbaugh as an "entertainer." People weren’t laughing at Stewart’s criticism of Cramer because it was funny; they were laughing because if they didn’t they’d cry. Stewart is an influential political satirist and Cramer knows it. That’s why he went on The Today Show to rebut Stewart’s comments. I hope everyone who watched the Stewart segment gets the most important message. None of these guys were smart enough to warn the public. They were worried about their ratings, not the quality of their advice.
Stewart’s answer to Cramer on Monday’s show was spot on and leaves no dispute who is correct:

Jim, Sweetheart….you REALLY don’t want to take on John Stewart!
He will make you look like a fool. Because a lot of what you have said and done on your show, contributed to a whole lot of people losing millions of dollars. And it appears John and his writers are enjoying pointing out your hypocrisy.
So a little advice from a lone woman…..drop the John Stewart comebacks. Ignore him, if you don’t you’ll regret it.
Jim verses John?? Who cares???
I’m confused—the first stimulus, we were assured, “created or saved” three million jobs. Do we need to create or save those jobs again so soon or will this new bill be creating or saving more?
Prediction: By 2010, The One will have “saved” every job in America.
Nothing says confidence like an endless string of multibillion-dollar emergency bailouts.thank you, i’ll keep that in mind.
considering they’re both politcal commentators—i’m sure they’d address the stimulous package in their debate—so perhaps it is on topic.

I mentioned how much I welcomed your addition to Wow over on the "birthday" thread, but since my post there has disappeared, I will stop here and say it again for the record. (I opine that most of us appreciate boundaries, and reminders of same.)
