Joan Ganz Cooney Asks: What if 'Iran Had Tried to Do Something About the 2000 Election?'

Joan Ganz Cooney
There is so much commentary on the air about these questions from experts that I wouldn’t dream of venturing an opinion. We have little power to set a fraudulent election right in a sovereign nation. How would we have reacted had Iran tried to DO something about the 2000 election, which many of us living in this country thought wrong but had to accept? Whatever the experts say, only time will tell whether or not the apparent results are a setback.

I’ll see your 2000 Election commentary; and raise you a 2008 ACORN registered primary and general election.  With some ‘ACORN’ voters rolls coming in at over 100% turnout (must be new math or dead voters).  Do you remember the ACORNites, with clubs, at the polling station in Philly?  Funny…but those ‘gentlemen’ were charged, and then ‘record expunged’ by the Obama administration.  Odd huh…especially since there was VIDEO of the encounters (stopping those voters they didnt want at the polls).

Now…where did I put that UN phone number…

No kidding Mary….

I find this articl by Joan very disigenous. Is there a need to rile up the Bush Derangement Syndrome again Joan? Really? I would think that you would like to step up and into this past election and muse on about the thousands of fraudulant votes registered by ACORN in favor of Obama…ya…one would think….

Considering that ACORN contributed 33 MILLION to the Obama and has recieved millions back in bailout stimilus and stands to make BILLIONS more from Obama policies…gee…hmmm….

In case you are really interested in election fraud it’s spelled A-C_O-R-N. You might want to talk with Marcel Reid and the ACORN 8…or look up the 14 states that have fraud charges pending against ACORN. There are even individuals that admit to voting over 75 times….they ADMIT it, Joan.

Perhaps the fact that over 270 other ACORN affiliates recieve mail and donations at the same abandoned office address might be of interest Joan.

Or maybe that George Soros gave millions to start ACORN…that they are connected with the powerful SEIU…that their affliate the Center for Community Change (there’s that "change" word again..) has several union members on their board that lists on its website that they helped establish the Community Reinvestment Act that got us into this financial mess in the first place.

WOWOWOW Joan…what about that?

Many of us thought the election was a farce in 2000 but a judge decided that for us.  We sure as heck would not like another country coming in and making waves over it non the less, it’s our country and we decide it’s fate no outsiders have that right.  So we need to keep our noses out of the Iranian election results whether we like the result or not.

Nobody is asking Obama to "DO" anything about the Iranian elections.

Because his job is to speak for this country with a single voice, he should voice his/our support for democracy in Iran.

So far, he hasn’t had the guts to do even that.

Nations don’t have friends, they have only interests and we should encourage any population to break free from tyranny. Especially a  nation ruled by Islamic extremists that could be a nuclear threat soon.

Obama has made it clear about how he feels toward the Iranians standing up for what they believe in.  His job is NOT to go on TV and make a statement to the Iranian people about how the election has gone or how it would like it to be.  That is not his role in all this, he is not Bush who had to keep spouting freedom and democracy every five minutes to all who would listen.   He is doing exactly the right thing by keeping his own personal opinions to himself and let the Iranian people take care of their own business over this election, we have been there and done that interfering in the past we need to stay out of other countries affairs!!!

cajp, you are exactly right, there is a time to speak and there is a time to be quiet. I believe president Obama is trying to let that country operate in their system, he is concerned with the people of Iran but he is not the president nor does he run the policies of Iran. I believe we will hear more from him on this matter because he is watching there are times when we have to step up to the plate but we cannot bogard another country. Thanks.

So….are we, America, the cops of the world now?  Dictating what other countries ‘should’ do?  I thought we changed all that in November, 2008!

There is so much that is not being reported in the news, here in America…..and that is unfortunate.  People have opinions, but mostly on what they "know" about.  Unfortunately, after having read several newspapers from many many other countries, regarding Iran, it is very clear to me,  that ‘all’ is not necessarily what it seems….because what is being reported on cable news holds a lack of depth and analysis, that would allow everyone to understand more than ONE level of understanding….their own!  There are other countries in the world besides the US and Iran…and each has their agenda, as we do….but we have to be very very careful to ‘assume’ that what we think ‘should’ be done, may not be the best for Iran, or for the US in the bigger picture….

On one of the stories I read yesterday, I think out of Britain, there were SEVERAL comments regarding the 2000 election (and 2004 too)—-where the consensus of most of the posters—-none American, btw——was that we as a country, have no right to comment on the Iranian election, as our very own Presidential election in 2000, was perceived to be a dictator (Bush) doing the same thing that Ahmend…..did in Iraq.

Let me get this straight.

Iranian fanatic Islamic extremist dictator, and Liberal darling, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is building Atomic bombs and thumbing his nose at the world over it.

The afore mentioned Mr. Ahmadinejad has stated his intention to exterminate Isreal.

The Iranian people are trying to get rid of this nut case but he has corrupted the election.

Thousands of Iranians are bravely taking to the streets to try to oust him and deserve to know that other free people are supporting their brave efforts.

Only a coward would stay silent in the face of this.

The more said by America the more Iranian deaths. Is that what you people want? We need to stay silent and let Iranians take care of Iran. The bullying ended. Cooler heads prevailed.
