Joan Ganz Cooney Looks at Unemployment, Not War

Joan Ganz Cooney
He certainly will be a one-term president if the unemployment rate isn’t greatly reduced. I’m not sure the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq will influence the election, but I assume if we’re bogged down out there with casualties occurring on a regular basis, it could limit his second-term chances. The problem is that the Republicans are usually urging war on us so I don’t see them running against war. If Obama pulls way back and things become more of a mess in the region, then I guess the Republicans could turn that into an issue even though the country is more or less against more war at this time.

Hi Joan, If my recollection is correct, the Republicans and the Bush Administration are the ones that got us into this double-war quagmire based upon a mantra that Sadaam Hussein has "WMD" weapons of Mass destruction. Now, everyone knew that was a blatant lie.  We now have a new President Obama to clean up the big mess. When Obama took his victory speech on Nov. 5, 2008, he admitted that he inherited a job awashed with monumental problems, unemployment, war, virus epidemic, recession, etc. He has also envisioned that it will not get resolved overnight. "It will be a long road ahead and lots of hard work".(Quote unquote).

When someone expects that Pres. Obama can just wisk his "magic wand" and "viola" all problems ironed-out is really not being reasonable. We Americans are all into this. It is not just the President. We need to be part of the solution and assist to "get that car off the ditch" Everyone must push and pull hard. It is quite easy to be an "armchair"
critique. But it won’t help one bit.

Good morning, Lovely Soul.    Please read this link which proves that Saddam Hussein had WMD’s:

http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/07/the_550_tons_of_yellowcake.html

The republicans KNEW Obama didn’t have a "magic wand."   The democrats still think he has a crown on, however.   The reason unemployment is out of control can be attributed to one glaring mistake….Obama ignored the largest employer of jobs in our country.   In fact, he is STILL ignoring them.   He doesn’t believe in our small businesses.   He’d rather bailout the big boys because that’s where his largest campaign funds originated.   Now he has to come back to us for more of our hard earned tax dollars for Stimulus II.

Inexperience and a socialist far left leaning mindset is the reason this administration hasn’t done one thing to turn this recession around.  All they have done is try to set in place massive government control…while good Americans have lost jobs, homes and their self respect.

Republicans are doing everything they can possibly do to hold this administration responsible for their inexperience and experimentation bandaid bailouts…they continue to fail in the White House.

President Obama said to the world that the war in Iraq was a necessary war and that America made a difference in the lives of the Iraqi people.   If anyone takes issue with the war in Afghanistan they need only send an email to the president.    What Obama is doing to our troops in Afghanistan now by ignoring General McChrystal’s request for more troops will go down in history.   Obama won’t have one waterloo….he’ll have two….failed healthcare bill and ignoring an honorable General’s request for more troops.

Obama’s ratings are tanking.   He’ll soon meet Palin’s rating of 38%.  Americans are angry and they have the power to vote him out in 2012.  As Virginia and New Jersey went red….look at Iowa…going red….now look at Ohio….going red…..how many more states will follow?   And, you blame Bush for that?   Get real, democrats.

Hi dr hoodia, seems like 50% of Americans have head their head in the sand since 2001.   But that’s okay.   Saddam Hussein had WMD’s….remember how he kept denying the inspection for years?   Wonder why.

Here’s a timeline on the WMD’s

The 50% if America that do not have our heads in the sand know why:
Hussein Pointed to Iranian Threat: Specter of Arms Allowed Him to Appear Strong, He Told U.S.
FBI interviews detail Saddam Hussein’s fear of Iran, WMD bluff

Captured documents confirmed that the weapons were long gone by the time we invaded.

Some of us also failed to accept that Saddam was running a credible nuclear weapons program out of the back of a couple of fertilizer trucks, as Bush claimed.

Perhaps you can explain how:

The ISG releases its final report and chief inspector Charles Duelfer testifies before congress about his team’s findings. After 16 months of investigation, Duelfer concludes that Saddam Hussein had no chemical weapons, no biological weapons and no capacity to make nuclear weapons. This effectively ends the hunt for WMD.

(your pbs citation) translates into:

Saddam Hussein had WMD’s

Good luck with that.

One Term President

Well that is a well grounded axe.

I think that the original statement about foreign vs domestic is true.  The issue of who got us there in the begining is a logical approach to a question not made on logical grounds.

I remember watching a president on a black & white television on a windy sunny January day admonishing the nation with the words’….ask what you can do for your country….’ I have not heard a word that shows any interest in getting involved in any issue or crisis.  Just hot air about the fact that the administration hasn’t fixed it all for us, yet.  I take no pride in this.

All I have to say is thank you deber for saying exactly what I was going to say. And to even add the same article link.

Hi, Beth, thank you.   The democrats on this site have to be very confused with the independents disapproval of this president.   Only 85% of democrats are happy with him.    The democrats elected the wrong person to lead this country and his personal agenda to take our country socialist with big government control is now is waterloo.

Obama’s betrayal of America growing exponentially

By Sher Zieve

Obama and his administration have been caught in another huge lie and, this time, it’s a doozey! Remarkably, one of Obama’s own state-run media ABC News broke the story. For months now, Obama and his various administration mouthpieces have been extolling the virtues of the dictator-in-chief’s "creation" of millions of new jobs! With millions of verifiable jobs having been lost since Obama usurped the position of POTUS and hundreds of thousands more still being lost each and every month, anyone who still maintains the ability to think knows this was a lie. And now another immense ObamaLie has been exposed.

ABC News followed up on the Obama Administration’s claims (on its recovery.gov website) — which included amounts spent, jobs "created or saved" and the Congressional districts which ‘dear leader’ had ‘positively impacted.’ One of the immediate problems is that the Congressional districts which had ostensibly received the ObamaMoney (where the ObamaJobs had been created) did not and do not exist! For example, just a few of these reported by ABC include:

"In Oklahoma, recovery.gov lists more than $19 million in spending — and 15 jobs created — in yet more congressional districts that don’t exist.
