Joan Ganz Cooney: When Political Correctness Takes Over
I don’t think it will be. I hope the parties will not become so politically correct that they always are looking for African Americans, Hispanics and women to run on presidential tickets instead of looking for the best people for the jobs. Sarah Palin, a disaster in my view, was the result of the Republicans trying to top the Democrats in diversity. However, I’m afraid that there will be a big search for minorities and women and that could lead to so-so candidates or worse.

superior to obama in destroying the country and discriminating against those who are different from her, sure. but everything else leaves her in the dust.
i’m not sure she has done anything that is favorable to many people other than her big oil buddies.
she’s against medical care for women in the most dangerous and traumatic instances such as when a woman is raped or has to terminate a dangerous pregnancy. she’s against environmental and animal protections to safeguard our precious country and land that God gave to us to protect. she is against education, she is against truth, she is against diversity, she is against tolerance and understanding and acceptance and peace.
i thank God every day that she will never get close to the Presidential seat.
I agree that America should always be focused on "who" will do the best job, who will "actually" carry out their campaign promises and not morph into a radical once in office. Now, more than ever, Americans need to know the backgrounds of the people they put into office whether this person is a man or a woman, black or white, Latino or Asian etc.
I believe it is most important now that candidates are completely vetted before getting anywhere near our White House.

I think that would be great deber, but I think there are always going to be surprises along the way. Some thought the extended primary season did some of that for us, but I think I am not the only one who began to suffer from primary fatigue.
Lucinda, I don’t believe we should allow much room for surprises when electing a President and Vice President. Americans should have the resources available to them to examine a potential presidential candidate from his young childhood up to the time he/she becomes a viable candidate. Only then can Americans know "the person" and what type of environment they were nurtured in. We all know that the way we were raised has an impact on who we are and how we think.
Primary fatique? You certainly got that right. I am still experiencing campaign fatique!
Deber…I believe it is most important now that candidates are completely vetted before getting anywhere near our White House.
Very well said…I couldn’t agree with you more…I hope we never again elect someone into any office of govt. before knowing who they are and their past…even if you have to go through garbage dumpsters like they did when vetting Gov. Palin. I mean even Joe the Plumber was more vetted than obama…if that tells you anything!!!
