Laura Ingraham Guest Host Tammy Bruce Calls Michelle Obama 'Trash' (Audio)

Talk about a low blow.
Filling in for conservative talk-show host Laura Ingraham, Tammy Bruce blasted First Lady Michelle Obama for comments she made during a visit to a Washington D.C. classroom last week. During that visit, the first lady recalled trying to get good grades as neighborhood kids criticized her for "talking like a white girl." In light of those remarks, Bruce made fun of Obama for her use of a "weird, fake accent," much "like Hillary did when talking to black people. What?! What is that?"
"That’s what he’s [Barack] married to," Bruce said. "…You know what we’ve got? We’ve got trash in the White House. Trash is a thing that is colorblind, it can cross all eco-socionomic, kind of a, categories. You can work on Wall Street, or you can work at the Wal-Mart. Trash, are people who use other people to get things, who patronize others, who consider you bitter and clingy."
Bruce, who describes herself as an "openly gay, pro-choice, gun owning, pro-death penalty, voted for President Bush authentic feminist," hosts the nationally syndicated "Tammy Bruce Show," flagshipped at KABC Radio in Los Angeles. Last spring, Bruce took some flak for suggesting that Sen. Hillary Clinton suffers from "mythomania … part of a larger psychiatric scheme of people who make up fantastic stories to bolster their own image." Bruce also claimed that Clinton had said daughter Chelsea was "at the World Trade Center on September 11th," even though Clinton never said that.
Needless to say, Bruce’s comments about Michelle O. aren’t being received too highly across the blogosphere. "Today, I bring you Tammy Bruce, who must be at least a sophomore in the Ann Coulter School of Bigotry," says one post on Talking Points Memo. "I knew Bruce was kinda nuts, but clearly she’s aced Coulter’s introductory classes."

I’m sorry, I didn’t know being African American was the same as being French. I also didn’t know that the word "n*&*^ is used as a racist form against the French as well. I also didn’t know that statistics have proved that African Americans are substantially behind in their fundamental educational basics due to the public school system..(which is a joke) oh my! The French must suffer from the same educational gap. Where have I been at for the past 22years…wow..some people will never have a clue.
Wake up sweetie, being French (aka White) is NOTHING like being black in America.

I wonder how many folks responding to Michelle’s comment to the children at the school have any understanding of her point. I mean a real life experience. I’m a 50 Black Man, with a bachelors’ degree. I have two sons 21 and 20 and have been married for 25 years. My profession is Business Development and Sales of highly specialized technology in support of the Government customers. Yesterday afternoon, I meant for lunch with two new customers, that I have never met before in person. We have spoken on the phone numerous times and corresponded by email countless times. We met for lunch in Arlington, VA. I called them from my cell to let them know that I had arrived and we agreed to meet in the lobby. I was about 5 minutes early and took a seat in the lobby in one of only 3 chairs. I was the only person waiting. After waiting about 10 minutes I got a call from one of the gentleman that I was meeting. He was concerned that I had gone to the wrong address. I told him that I was in the lobby. At that time, I stood up and looked out the double glass doors at two men looking back into the lobby from outside, one of them talking on the phone. They had walked past me twice in the lobby. When I went outside to meet them and shake their hands for the first time, there it was, on both of their faces, that all to familiar ….. wow you’re black.
This is the point that Michelle is making. There is nothing wrong or uncool about speaking properly or articulating the English language or wanting to get A’s and have the answers to the questions in class. Further, that any peer that would tell you differently or tell you that you sound “white” (which by the way still happens in 2009 ask my sons) is wrong. Regarding Michelle being fake: Just like every other black person that has made anything of them self in the predominately controlled “white” society (outside of athletes or entertainers) has the ability to speak multiple languages; from Wall Street to ally way in a nanosecond. Most minorities in the US live in at least two different worlds. As I began this post. I wonder how many folks responding to Michelle’s comment to the children at the school have any understanding of her point. I mean a real life experience… You heard! No the author above does not believe that only black people can achieve something? Did you read what Mr.Jackson said or did you just take what you wanted to take from the comment? Sounds like the ladder to me.
I guess thats the only thing us "negros" created was the traffic light…was that not a racist comment in itself? SMH
Jesus Take The Wheel!! Please because some people are driving it right off the cliff!!
Maybe I wasn’t clear… or fair… " Just like every other black person that has made anything of them self in the predominately controlled “white” society (outside of athletes or entertainers) has the ability to speak multiple languages; from Wall Street to ally way in a nanosecond."
The point that I was making is that we, the collective we and I would argue especially Whites, expect a Black professional to speak a certain way. This is a reflection of education, upbringing, culture and class. I’m suggesting that same standard is not necessarily applied to Black athletes or entertainers, with the understanding that most Black business professionals can talk Ivy League or Street, because we will in two worlds. White folks live in one.
If you don’t believe this to be true, keep an eye on the NCAA Basketball Tournaments. Invariably, you will hear some White commentators speaking about one of the Black players and mention something to this effect…. what a great athlete, a real asset to the program and such an articulate young man… You will never, ever hear them say that about a White athlete…. ever
Phil I am very awake. The list of Accomplishments that Blacks have contributed to this Country is far beyond your imagination. If you are interested and want to be enlightened then do some study, but don’t even try to pretend that you know or understand what I believe…God, I love all those people who want to keep America the way it was. What way was that exactly? None of you have described that former paradise lost.
I hear this all the time on boards like these. Oy, you should hear the quiet I get when I ask Atlanta boards where they got the notion Atlanta was a small town in GA. This is where I learned my first racist code words. See, my handle on most boards renders me very foreign, sexless but very American.
Make all the excuses you want about preserving America, but I know what you mean. You want the America where one is master.
Have you all ever looked in the mirror at yourselves when you get worked up about this? You should see what I see when you let yourselves go in front of me. Yeah, I’m going to say it again, "my friends ain’t the way I wish they were …
It is so funny when I read the right wingers response to anything remotely racial. They just don’t get it. I was shocked when the very mention of race differenes brings the right wing out swinging with charges of playing the race card. It is obvious that they do not acknowledge differences in speech patterns that show differences in educational, ethnic or racial backgrounds.
For example many people make fun of regional dialects such as southern etc. But deny this experience and attack anyone who mentions this is ludicrous. Michelle was referreng to her experience.
What bothers right wingers so much ?
Goodness gracious people! Where are you? Oh, all the nay sayers must be white folks…yes, I’m just going to call it like I read it folks.
Listen up…a vast majority of AA children in "public schools" are actually ridiculed by their peers, and sometimes by the family members if they appear to be speaking ENGLISH and not ebonics…do any of you know what ebonics is??? Have you ever heard of the word??? Well, most highly educated people have. And I praise the First Lady for clearing the air with these children, as I’m sure there were many in the bunch who have experienced the negative comments regarding their use of PROPER English. K?
Geez…you people are unbelievable and to think I joing WowOWow because I thought it was going to be a positive thing. But [some of] you guys are way off the tracks…if you know what I mean.
If you’re educators, why don’t you leave the private schools and teach in a public school in the inner city for a year…if you last that long.
Get a grip people…the First Lady did an honorable thing. Period.
