Tammy Bruce on Laura Ingraham Radio Show | 03/24/2009 8:30 am

Laura Ingraham Guest Host Tammy Bruce Calls Michelle Obama 'Trash' (Audio)

Talk about a low blow.

Filling in for conservative talk-show host Laura Ingraham, Tammy Bruce blasted First Lady Michelle Obama for comments she made during a visit to a Washington D.C. classroom last week. During that visit, the first lady recalled trying to get good grades as neighborhood kids criticized her for "talking like a white girl." In light of those remarks, Bruce made fun of Obama for her use of a "weird, fake accent," much "like Hillary did when talking to black people. What?! What is that?"

"That’s what he’s [Barack] married to," Bruce said. "…You know what we’ve got? We’ve got trash in the White House. Trash is a thing that is colorblind, it can cross all eco-socionomic, kind of a, categories. You can work on Wall Street, or you can work at the Wal-Mart. Trash, are people who use other people to get things, who patronize others, who consider you bitter and clingy."

Bruce, who describes herself as an "openly gay, pro-choice, gun owning, pro-death penalty, voted for President Bush authentic feminist," hosts the nationally syndicated "Tammy Bruce Show," flagshipped at KABC Radio in Los Angeles. Last spring, Bruce took some flak for suggesting that Sen. Hillary Clinton suffers from "mythomania … part of a larger psychiatric scheme of people who make up fantastic stories to bolster their own image." Bruce also claimed that Clinton had said daughter Chelsea was "at the World Trade Center on September 11th," even though Clinton never said that.

Needless to say, Bruce’s comments about Michelle O. aren’t being received too highly across the blogosphere. "Today, I bring you Tammy Bruce, who must be at least a sophomore in the Ann Coulter School of Bigotry," says one post on Talking Points Memo.  "I knew Bruce was kinda nuts, but clearly she’s aced Coulter’s introductory classes."

Maggi: Your comment is completely false. I did not quote a poll. How about you read the post one more time. Then feel free to ponder that more than a moment or two before you post another pity observation.

Kelly In Texas  -

1st quote - "Both Clinton and Bush had higher approval ratings at this time in their Presidency".  Where would this information come from but a poll.

2nd quote - "Polls are skewed as are the questions.  It all depends on who was asked, where they were asked, at what time they were asked and in what form were they asked.  Polls are unrelyable".  This I totally agree with and would never have made the statement from your 1st quote.

And you are right - it was a ‘pity observation’.  A pity that people say one thing in a post and totally reverse it in another without even realizing that they are doing it.

Maggi….dear me…how you rage on…. I was quoting from a news show, it was the topic of conversation. Perhaps  their source was a poll, I do not know.

I did not post that it was from a poll. Period. So you can let it go now….you made a good attempt, but it didn’t pan out. Hint: don’t assume…… ;]

You are ‘giving and optimistic people and look for the best in a situation’?  Obama has been President for 65 days; your optimism is somewhat limited if you’ve already lost any ray of it.  You say ‘most Americans’ fell for Obama, but now ‘Many Americans are now looking at Obama…’  Must still be many Americans who are interested in avoiding the Right and staying free by not going to war with every country in the Middle East.  As well as having a job, food on the table and some kind of retirement program………..those aren’t charity.  They’re hard earned dollars that we worked for and then lost to greed and deregulation.

My optimism extends to the American people, not this goverment. My hopes are that many who have been comfortable in their lives, take the time to seek out what is really happening, instead of blinding believing what this administration tells them.

As for going to war with "every country in the Middle East", well that is an extreme over statement. Yes, it is. 9/11 was an attack on America. Many extremist want all of us dead. You are in a war wheather or not you acknowledge it. It matters not that we don’t want the fight, it is their religious duty to kill us. They will bring it to us, again.

Obama has done nothing to create jobs. Nothing. Your hard earned dollars have been given without your blessings to companies that should have failed. Worse than that, over 60 billion of TAXPAYERS money was handed out to FOREIGN banks.

While Americans rant on about these companies, our county is being spent into a socialist global community. The trouble with Americans is that we are spoiled and have no idea how good we had it. Instead, we throw a tantrum and allow someone to totally change our country and our constitutional rights. All in the name of "change".

There will be a time when you wished for the good old days back. The ones before the "change".

Obama is an incompetent , a narcissist that is in over his head and taking us all down with him.

Peace and Tie-Dye

Kelly, we don’t know each other, so you’ll just have to trust me, if you will.  You’ve written an excellent post here, one that I can learn from even if I don’t agree with every point.  I totally agree that we all must be vigilant about our security, our government and our tax dollars.  You are correct, we no longer have the luxury to sit back while others make decisions about our lives.  You’re right about the money to the foreign banks.  You say that I go to extremes when I say ‘war with every country in the Middle East’…you’re right, that’s extreme, but I think saying that the Obamas hate America is a bit extreme as well.  Actually, I’ve lived in foreign countries and believe me, I know what Americans take for granted…gasoline in Europe was $3 a gallon 25 years ago.

I live in Texas also and taught school, as did my husband, so we are, always have been middle class, if that high.  We’ve always paid our way, paid for our children to go to college.  Now our pension fund has lost something like 60 billion dollars…the whole state teacher retirement fund, not just us.  We’ve paid our mortgage ourselves.  So there’s a glimpse of who is speaking…..which sometimes helps.  Now, war I’ll never agree with; although, the initial assault on Afghanistan, I supported.  I’ve spent time with kids returning from Iraq, spending weeks in a rehabilitation center.  We’re expending so much more than dollars.  The costs over there………..they lost a bundle of 20 billion dollars, no oneseems to know where it went; billion dollars a month to support troops; billions more to take care of them when they return(which we owe them, without question) that’s a separate budget, not part of the federal budget…where does that come from.  And Obama is sending troops to Afghanistan….a mission abandoned too quickly in the past.

I hope we can continue our discussions, Kelly.

Peace and grace

Thank you for your post Beth.

I understand your concerns and I also wish for a world without wars. I do believe that the Obamas hate the America that we know. I believe that they revere a marxist view of government and seek to "change" ours. I know that may seem extreme, it should, for it is.

Our troops deserve all of the help and support that we can muster. I will point out that this is a volunteer army, it makes the death loss no more easy to take. We must stand ready, and willing to protect our Nation, for there are those that intend to "wipe us from the face of the earth". We can not be kinder, gentler, ,more peaceful to appease them. They want us dead.

I would rather have given our military the 60 billion than given it to the banks in Europe.

There is much more at stake here than left vs right. It is America.

Always good to hear from a fellow Texan ;]

I’ve let this sub-thread go because everyone was being civil… but do need to ask that we get a little back on-topic.  Thanks.

Kelly in Texas,

When will the rest of America wake up and see that neither one of them wants the America that we know to survive.

They both hate it.

Can you give a) some examples of how the Obamas do not want the America we know and b) examples of how they both hate it?

That one is easy; His agenda to spend the country into a government control economy and end capitalism and our free market society. His agenda to redistribute the income of Americans. His agenda to have goverment control of education, health and business.

The America that we know it to be is what Obama intends to destroy. Stop listening to his words and follow the actions of his administration, one only has to look to know.

I don’t believe a word coming out of Michelle or Barrack’s mouths. Its all politics to them! She can say whatever she wants to say. Its just like Barrack was saying that John Deer’s CEO said he would hire back some of there workers if the Stimulus Bill passed. Please spare me this! They are both two phonies!

Hello, Lori…I hope (we collectively) don’t get accused of ‘ruining another’ by the end of the day…but I want to express my support for Tammy’s right to say what she said. I think the “trash” euphemism was poorly chosen. I agree with your opinion of “phony” and I would like to add disingenuous. In a society that just made the historic choice of its first ahh, Kenyan/quasi Afro/Caucasian American as President. Rather than extoll to the children assembled that her husband and her (Michelle has an impressive resume of her own) have acheived thru utilizing the incredible educational opportunities this country offers, which her husband now presides over, instead she chose to talk down and obfuscate the racial equality message that these kids have been taught. In order to gain some sort of cred, I am surprised she didn’t ask the girls their opinion of Rihanna/Chris Brown. What both Mr. and Mrs. Obama need to learn is that words trully have meaning and their words, due to their place in our society, have great meaning. Rather than inspire and build up, Michelle (was she off teleprompter?) instead chose to affect a mocking, “ethnic” accent to play to young children and take a swipe at (surprise!) whitey! Tammy, look for Rush to send you flowers…

Thanks Mary Q-C! I when over to Tammy’s site to hear the tape on what she was said because you can’t take WOW’s piece to be correct. Tammy was stating her opinion on what she thought. The liberal media had the right to make up the comments about Sarah, "I can see Russia from my window" But you are so right in your post Mary! The Obamas do not appreciate yet that the American people voted them in to office of  power to change the minds of many but especially of young kids today who look up to them for who they are and what they accomplished. But to built on a stereotype with this tired old message of race is just being a phony!

Now that’s saying what your true opinion of WOW is. I’m surprised you even both to stay on WOW if this is how you really feel about these folks. Stunning that you would say that so blatantly.

Well, there’s your problem, you’ve decided your opinion of Michelle Obama and no one’s going to change that.  It wont matter what she says, as far as you’re concerned.  Nothing like a closed mind.
