Meghan McCain vs. Laura Ingraham | 03/18/2009 12:40 pm

Laura Ingraham: Meghan McCain a 'Useful Idiot'

Laura Ingraham can’t quit her feud with Meghan McCain.

Ingraham, who last week called McCain "plus-sized," sent an e-mail out last night in which she described the 24-year-old daughter of John McCain as an "idiot" who’s being used by the media simply because she’s a Republican criticizing her own party. From her e-mail:

"Memo to Meghan McCain: Enjoy the media coverage while it lasts, but know you’re being used. You are the flavor of the month in left-wing media land because you are a Republican bashing the GOP

"Now the left is seizing on one satirical line from our show to paint Meghan as the victim of a right-wing hate crime. This comes from the same playbook responsible for the ongoing demonization of Rush Limbaugh — where his take on President Obama’s economic policies are misrepresented as some kind of attack on America. Their goal is to malign outspoken conservatives (specifically in talk radio) as members of a radical fringe movement whose right to free speech is questionable at best."

Ingraham goes on to wonder why the media didn’t fly into a frenzy when people were speculating about Jessica Simpson’s weight earlier this year, which, we admit, is a valid point. Do you agree? We’re sure McCain won’t.

Meanwhile, Ms. McCain was meant to appear on Howard Kurtz’s CNN show this Sunday, but canceled, which led Kurtz to conclude, "We wanted to ask her about something she wrote where she said her dating life had been ruined by being the daughter of a presidential candidate. Maybe she got a date and she found better company to keep." That, of course, is a reference to a Daily Beast post in which McCain complained she couldn’t get a date.

Ms. McCain may be many things, but I would have to disagree with Laura Ingraham regarding the state of Meghan’s intellect.  I have listened to both Laura Ingrahm and Meghan McCain, niether is as an idiot.  One is considerabley more programmed then the other, but I would not then equate that to idiocy.

This woman is obviously trying to nudge Ann Coulter out of the way… this is NOT about Megan McCain, this is all about Ingraham’s ambition get her portion of the Right Wing Vitriol cash cow.

Deb… you are wrong about Laura and evidently you know nothing about her! She is defending Ann and their mutual Conservative beliefs that Meghan has dissed.  Laura is very successful in her own right….she does not need Meghan to elevate that reputation.

What has Ms. McCain’s weight have to do with her political opinions..  When you have to attack someone by using their weight instead of what they say it is very sad.  Shows how much brain was or is used.  I am surprised at the  comment made by Ingrahm.  I have always listened to her opinions and respected her opinions.  Now I am not so sure.  Women need to rise above being so narrow minded.  Attack her opinion not her person.  Elizabeth Roy

I have also read where Meghan has cancelled any further media appearances ..as she is tired of talking about it!  Or more likely being USED by the Liberal media!

the whole post from Laura..

"USEFUL IDIOT" WATCH
Memo to Meghan McCain: Enjoy the media coverage while it lasts, but know you’re being used. You are the flavor of the month in left-wing media land because you are a Republican bashing the GOP. Likewise, your dad is most popular among the same people when he is slamming his Republican brethren in full-blown "maverick" fashion. At least he backs up his views with a lifetime of sacrifice and public service. What is Ms. McCain’s own political, business, or real-world experience that lends credibility to her argument that the GOP needs to "moderate" (read: abandon its core principles)?

Now the Left is seizing on one satirical line from our show to paint Meghan as the victim of a right-wing hate crime. This comes from the same playbook responsible for the ongoing demonization of Rush Limbaugh — where his take on President Obama’s economic policies are misrepresented as some kind of attack on America. Their goal is to malign outspoken conservatives (specifically in talk radio) as members of a radical fringe movement whose right to free speech is questionable at best.

The left’s indignation in this instance is manufactured and totally phony. If any off-the-cuff remark about a woman’s size was condemnable, then where was the outrage when President Obama made a passing reference to Jessica Simpson’s "weight battle" during his Super Bowl interview with Matt Lauer? And of course they look the other way when obvious personal attacks are levied against conservatives. Remember when Al Franken was the toast of all media for his book "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot"? Last month The View’s Joy Behar called him a "fat guy"; and when I was a guest on The View a few years back she ridiculed Ann Coulter and me as "peroxide" blondes on Fox. I laughed it off. If you can’t stand the heat…get out of the punditry business.

Next time, just for fun, Meghan should pretend that she’s had a change of heart and is now a pro-life conservative. Then she’ll really see how the Mean Girls treatment feels.

Click here to listen to the entire segment from March 13th, instead of the version that was edited and sent around by left wing smearmongers. "

Meghan’s time in the spot light is just about over….always happens…but Laura Ingraham will continue to be a high rated talk radio show…I don’t think Ann or Laura will lose any popularity over this…those that listen and read their books will still be their fans…those that don’t…no loss there!!!!

Did anyone else watch Laura?  She explained that her parody was an impersination of the liberal media show biz people who exploit young women by denying any girl who is not a pencil thin a serious spot in Hollywood.  She used the term plus sized because that is what Meghan has said about herself.

She also made a huge point in that..would Maddow have booked her for the interview if she had made a negative comment about a Democrat??

But using this REpublican on Republican slam for their talk radio pinata of the week is teypical.   When things get uncomfortable for Obama and his administration deflect by using a REpublican.

Why was there not this outrage about Rush’s weight when Dems made those comments or Bush’s accent, his ears or way he speaks.

The gal there with Laura from the Huffington tried to make this a woman issue…..and when Laura said why did you not ever come to the defense of Sarah Palin?…she was at a loss for words!!!

Meghan got sucked into this….she is young and inexperienced with the manipulation of the media..much less the liberal arm of it!

SJ….Laura was outstanding…and she really made her point to that other woman so very well…really put her on a spot….she could not defend herself…Laura was ready for her.  The msm really did a spin on Laura…and now that she explained it, I don’t blame her for speaking out…although no one will listen…they hear just what they want to hear….Meghan was used big time…and if she doesn’t see that, then I have no mercy on her…her spot light will soon go out….this was a great show….and I’m glad Laura brought out some of the attacks that have been thrown at her…like they wished a big tumor on her brain…that is really appropriate to say to a woman who is a breast cancer survivor…and they went after her 3 year old child also….mighty low…but then they did the same with Gov. Sarah Palin and her family along with trashing Ann Coulter….you can almost see it coming every time anyone of them is in the news….it is all so funny!!!
