Letterman to O'Reilly: 'You're Too Smart to Believe What You Say' (Video)

David Letterman wasted no time bashing Bill O’Reilly when the talk show host appeared on Late Night Tuesday.
The funnyman first poked fun at the Fox News host’s ratings (though he should have done his research because O’Reilly champs prime-time cable news). Letterman, an outspoken liberal, also threw verbal punches at the staunch conservative personality for his affinity for Rush Limbaugh and boycott of Sean Penn’s movies.
O’Reilly should have known that sparks would fly. In 2006, the "Late Night" host questioned O’Reilly’s credibility as a journalist, when he said, "I have the feeling about 60 percent of what you say is crap."
Letterman’s feelings obviously haven’t changed. Last night, Letterman gave him the back-handed compliment: "You’re too smart to believe what you say." Watch a clip of this latest love fest below and tell us what you think:

Who said it wasn’t ok? O’Reilly can do what he wants; he’s inconsequential.
We can mock him all we want; we get to do that.
Those who don’t like it can go read the drudge report.
Helen, can you even imagine how republicans continue to feel about the comments about a lovely Governor in Alaska who is trying to be a good, solid public servant and raise her children and now a grandson while vicious attacks are made against her twenty four hours a day? To be fair, both sides of the political arena are guilty. I’m not saying that one side engages more than the other but the fact that they do speaks volumes about the capability of the media and the internet to influence the public.
Hope it all stops soon but I know that is reaching for the moon.
Agreed. O’Reilly vs. Letterman. O’Reilly wins everytime.
I missed Bill on Letterman, but I did catch him on the view. It was the first time I the more warm and charming side of him. He actually defended Obama’s "special olympic" comment as a self degragating comment gone awry. He himself even said Obama didn’t do it to be demeaning to special needs people, and the only reason it got so much attention is because "We have nothing better to do".
As a mom of a special needs son, I wasn’t so much offended by that comment as I was surprised. It was nice to see Bill admit he felt Obama said it without malice and that it got more attention than it deserved.

Did UPS back out as an advertiser on the popular “O’Reilly Factor” Fox News show, as MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann reported last Tuesday?
Absolutely not, UPS has said in a statement.
After Olbermann went public with his claim, UPS quickly issued a statement refuting Olbermann’s charge that the company pulled its advertising from Bill O’Reilly’s top-rated show.
As of Sunday evening, MSNBC had still not issued a retraction.
Here’s how the controversy played out:
Alexa Branchini was brutally raped in her dorm two weeks into her first semester at Boston University in 1999. The rapist is now serving 40 years, but before and during the trial, defense attorneys used stall tactics and claimed the incident was consensual. After Alexa’s experience, her family started the It Happened to Alexa Foundation to help the families of rape victims.
The Foundation asked O’Reilly to headline a fundraiser for the organization in March, and he agreed.
After the charitable event was announced, O’Reilly said on his March 24 “The O’Reilly Factor” broadcast, “a bunch of far-left loons picked up some propaganda from the hate group Media Matters that said I am unsympathetic to the plight of crime victims, a preposterous lie.”
One blogger who wrote negatively about O’Reilly and the fundraiser was Amanda Terkel of ThinkProgress.org. A “Factor” producer later confronted Terkel about her blog.
On March 31, Keith Olbermann said this about O’Reilly on MSNBC’s “Countdown”:
“He also reiterated his delusion about the It Happened to Alexa Foundation, where Bill-O was thoroughly criticized for having the gall to address a fundraiser for rape victims, after twice publicly blaming rape victims, then sending a producer to stalk a woman who wrote a blog post about his hypocrisy.
“UPS promptly dropped out as an advertiser in protest of Bill-O’s victimization of Amanda Terkel of ThinkProgress.org.”
But UPS has issued statement from its national spokesman Norman Black: “We are writing to clarify our statement of last Friday because it appears to have been misinterpreted. UPS has not ‘pulled’ any advertising from Fox News nor has the company taken a position on the ‘ThinkProgress’ campaign. Our intent on Friday simply was to note that UPS does not have any pending advertising plans with the O’Reilly show.”
