Rush Limbaugh got a bit loopy yesterday when he attempted to compare the Democrats’ ruling style with his own drug addiction. Speaking on his syndicated radio show, the right-wing shock jock insisted that the Democrats are "addicted to power because they think it is their birthright," and brought up his own recovery by saying he knows that addiction can make people "irrational."
Have you ever had a genuine addiction to something? Well I have and let me tell you about it. It makes you entirely unreasonable and irrational. It is all you care about. Nothing else matters no matter how important … it doesn’t matter as much as the addiction. Feeding it, the fear of not being able to is what animates your existence every day. These people are addicted to power because they think it is their birthright. And I’m not just talking about the people in Washington, elected officials, I’m talking about some of — not all — but some of the rank and file, madcap insane liberals that you will find blogging, that you will find e-mailing, that you will find on the protest march. Their lives are basically meaningless, their addiction to power and dominance and control is what drives them.Limbaugh wasn’t the only talk-radio host making outrageous comments yesterday. Andrew Wilkow, who was guest hosting the "Mark Levin Show," raised eyebrows by referring to MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, who is a lesbian, as a "nice little boy," and gay blogger Perez Hilton as a "vile sodomite."

None are so “nannified” as the statist Democratic left which must regulate everything from electric use (Smart Meters coming to our homes to control our electric usage right down to the temp);
i have never had someone come to my house and tell me how much energy i can use. but if they did I dont believe i would have such a big issue with it; they must have a good reason since companies like to make money.
we are in an energy crisis - what issue do you have with regulating energy usage?
proposed sugary drink taxes; “sin taxes” on alohol and tobacco.
no one is forcing you to drink soda, smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol (none of which we can say are good for you, can we?). they can charge whatever they want for them. and anyway, these items kill people every year - those taxes most likely go towards paying their hospital bills or fund research on their effects on us. - why do you think it is a bad thing to tax items that are proven to cause obesity, lung cancer/heart disease, and social problems?
Bans on transfats (but of course the government knows what’s best for you to eat)…etc.
well, i think we can both agree that the government doesn’t know what is best for you to eat - a lot of the FDA is funded by meat and dairy and sugar lobbyists. i don’t trust their studies on nutrition because they are paid for by the meat and dairy industry.
but as for banning certain additives, that is a GOOD thing. the government needs to protect the people from dangerous things that are added to our food supply. they don’t do a 100% good job, but trans fats do NOT need to be defended. countless institutions have studied transfats and how they affect human health, and they are not good at all by any stretch of the word - it is simply a cheap product that corporations created to keep their crappy food ‘fresh’ on the shelf for longer.
and as for controlling giant companies that have screwed over the nation, yes, that is a good thing to control! but they are not out for control and dominance in the way that rush was trying to claim- RULES ARE A GOOD THING when it comes to non-human entities such as industry, science, ect… if there are no regulations, guess what happens?
companies take advantage of our people, they feed us dangerous substances in our food without any warning, they pollute the earth to their hearts’ content, they destroy our wild lands to pave it and drill for oil, they give unsecured loans to people who cannot afford them…. rules are a GOOD thing for companies, mary.
there is no problem with creating a responsible structure for our companies to operate within, which is the democrat position. it is a good idea to force our entities to serve the PEOPLE.
it IS a problem to force the people to act within a set of moral rules that are arbitrary and prejudiced, which is what republicans try to go for - ban marriages, ban medical procedures, ect ect. that is NOT a good idea, because we are human beings, and we have a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
corporations do not have human rights.
Very well said!!
Jason Leopold, Truthout: "Claims that Democrats were fully briefed on the Bush administration’s torture program have been leveled as recently as last December by Vice President Dick Cheney and in books by former Bush officials such as John Yoo, the former deputy assistant attorney general at the Office of Legal Counsel (OLC), who helped draft one of the four memos released last week. But the veracity of those assertions have been called into question by former CIA official Mary O. McCarthy, who said senior agency officials lied to members of Congress during an intelligence briefing in 2005 when they said the agency did not violate treaties that bar, cruel, inhumane or degrading treatment of detainees during interrogations, according to a May 14, 2006, front-page story in The Washington Post."
Hey rush do you need a pill I doubt it —-why not talk about porter goss hooker gate bush had him resign but he sure knows that the cia doesn’t LIE—gingrich bad debts & cheques put out of office but thinks he has reputable info about how to run a country —Gimme me a break. Rove today did his nose grow again like it did the 5 times he had to talk to Fitzergald before he hung Libby out to dry as his scapegoat.
That is why cheney is talking so much now—-trying to find scapegoats & Distract us from really important issues of the Day for All American citizens!
Leave the Honest People alone—Judge not Lest You Be Judged!
If Independents are the new Republicans, it is Obama who drove us there.
