Liz Cheney 'Might' Run for Office, Says Karl Rove (Video)

Liz Cheney’s recent television appearances – plus insider gossip – have some thinking she’ll run for public office.

Dick Cheney’s daughter Liz has been all over the television as of late, and most of her time has been spent defending her father and the Bush administration’s anti-terror tactics.

Like her father, Liz, a former State Department aide, insists that President Obama’s softer touch makes the country less safe. Her loyal opposition — and surprisingly high profile — has some suggesting Ms. Cheney will run for public office.

One friend remarked to US News and World Report, "She’s awesome. Everyone wants her to run." Not only does she have her father’s hawkish perspective, but also her mother’s charm, a combination another source described as a "two-fer." "She comes off a bit better than he does sometimes." And it’s precisely that public persona that could make her an unstoppable force. While Cheney hasn’t said anything on the matter, former Bush staffer Karl Rove added fuel to the rumor fire this weekend when, after being asked if she would run, he replied, "She might."

Others say, however, that Cheney will likely play this one slow and steady, especially because she has five children, whom she’ll raise before delving into the electoral game. What do you think, reader? Should Liz Cheney run for office or has the country had enough legacies for a while?

"Might" run?? It’s quite obvious that Dick and Liz are using Gitmo as a catalyst to get her in the spotlight and positioned to run. Their recent behavior has been political maneuvering at it’s sleaziest.

Exactly DeBurca! I say no more Bush or Chenneys. Haven’t they done enough damage to America.

Agreed, no more Bush or Cheneys… and after the dismal performances by the last 2, it is amazing to think another Bush or Cheney running for office would even be CONSIDERED! The GOP really has contempt for the intelligence of the American voter.

Exactly. Have you ever seen the movie Jesus Camp? If you haven’t rent it scary. It might help you see how they want to rule the world.

Oh yes, I saw it! In fact I saw it just before Ted Haggard’s gay exploits came out and I remember watching him in that movie thinking… I don’t care WHAT he is saying, he is as gay as it gets! Troubled people seem to gravitate to those extremist groups.

… to clarify, not that being ‘gay’ makes a person ‘troubled’… being gay while pretending to be hetro and deceiving your wife and while preaching an anti-gay message in a church, THAT is troubled.

Just what the world needs:  another member from that deplorable family in office. Frankly I don’t think she has the brains or the contacts to do it.

Sure, why not?   But what office?  Her famous father may be a terrific asset, but then again, he could be her greatest barrier to successful results.   Remember what happened with Caroline Kennedy.  Many people are ready to move on from the Kennedy clan, and by the same token, not everyone in the GOP is crazy about Dick Cheney.

Excellent point, Maggie. A member of a famous family has to demonstrate enough of their own independent strength in order to succeed in today’s politcal world. It will be intersting to watch. She does present herself well, as the article describes the ‘softening’ contributed by her mother.

She does have the correct position on everything political:  she lies like a trooper.

Liz is by far a better candidate than Caroline ever could ever dream to be!

You very well may be right, inasmuch as I know nothing about either one’s platform, appeal as a politician, or the office she seeks.  Because Liz mostly just defends her dad on the talk show circuit, I choose not to listen to her.  If she seeks public office and has a sound agenda, then I will.

That remains to be seen.

Caroline could only dream of having Liz’s resume…
