Liz Smith: President Is a 'Thankless Job'
In response to: Does the decrease in Obama's approval rating worry you? How does he measure in your book? What are his greatest weaknesses now?
I am still for giving this guy all the breaks in the world considering what he has inherited. I am not going to start breaking down his performance for at least another two years and I hope I won’t have to – ever. Being president is a thankless job and many Americans seem childishly simpleminded and fickle in this regard. He has enough problems with all those Republicans and Democrats who throw up stumbling blocks for him.

Thank you, for your words. They are deeply appreciated and encouraging. Being president is indeed a thankless job. He is indeed doing a fantastic job! Look what the man has inherited it’s amazing he has been able to accomplish all he has so far! Daily I’m exposed to partisan bashing of President Obama. I will continue to support him until the cows come home!
Liz Smith: With all due respect there are those who will "go down with the ship" and "those who will start bailing water sooner than later." Many Americans don’t have the resources to "give Obama all the breaks in the world." Unfortunately, President Obama has proven that he doesn’t have the experience to turn a recession around. This worries Americans and it worries China and India. In fact, the world watches and worries. I wonder if they are thinking, "We need to give Obama all the breaks in the world." I don’t think so.
My question is "When will the democrats have the courage to admit "buyer’s remorse" and take their country back before we are reduced to third world country status?" Voters thought Obama would bring innovative ideas to the White House. There’s nothing innovative about unsustainable debt and the polls reflect this.
It’s no secret that some President’s "get it wrong." This is one of those times. We will have to ride it out and vote in 2010. There’s nothing else we can do.
Oh Deber, silly one….
One person…. can not undo the damage you and and your president and party did in 8 years. And, yes we can bring
this up again and again… until the President is given the due time to untangle the mess. Look at more than
the sound bites your party is giving to understand exactly what is being done…. I would like you and other GOP folks
to explain what you think should have and should be done at 7 months in to a term. What exactly would your party be doing
to undo the mess that your party started….. There are so many areas that need help… from the economy to the war
to the corruption of your party for eight years. I would like to hear your specific suggestions on bringing the country to
where you think it needs to be.

Phil, sooner or later you will have to focus on the here and now. Respectfully, your words are wasted on blaming George Bush. It hasn’t worked for President Obama and it is not working for you today.
Have a wonderful day in America.

Phil called you out and this is the first time I’ve ever witnessed you keep silent! … This is a WOW moment!
Phil gave you an invite and a platform to give specific suggestions to correct the mistakes you believe President Obama continues to make. I’d like to hear them myself.
Please do not attack me deber B. to divert attention on you being called out! … I’m just interested in hearing. I’ve heard your nonstop bashing now I’d like to hear your solutions to set this country in the right direction.
First of all, L. C, Phil didn’t call "anyone" out. I didn’t find his words relevent to the state of our economy. I’ve been called many things on this site but "quiet" is not one of them.
I’ll ignore your comment on me not attacking you. We all know precisely those who attack. I just express my opinions as a concerned republican. If you consider that attacking then that is your opinion.
However, to answer your question and Phil’s, I believe President Obama is now trying desperately to correct his mistakes by doing what he should’ve done in the first place….with his proposed Stimulus II he will finally address cutting taxes to our small businesses. It’s not rocket science.

Great Post! … You’re right on target!
Republicans are wanting him to fail so they can strut around proudly as if they accomplished something.
it’s pretty unpatriotic to want our leader to fail, regardless of party.
Many republicans do not want him to fail. They also do not want him to continue to dig a larger and deeper hole. The polls are reflecting this. Even the democrats are bailing. Do they want him to fail? So, you see, no one is eager to strut. They are eager to see some semblance of a viable plan for recovery and progress.
