Liz Smith on Charles Rangel: Nancy Pelosi's 'Lily'

Liz Smith
If I were in Nancy Pelosi’s shoes I’d have acted long ago to treat Congressman Charles Rangel exactly the same way she’d have treated a Republican caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Let Rangel be examined and let him come clean. He has been a valuable Democratic representative for New York but that doesn’t cut any ice if he has done something wrong. I really don’t know what the outcome of this will be but he shouldn’t be treated differently from anyone else. I am a Democrat. But I don’t like the way Pelosi seems to have gilded this lily.

Nancy needs to stop shooting herself in the foot…a democratic trait…

I’m also a Dem. And I agree with Liz. Pelosi isn’t showing any integrity on the Rangel issue. Be fair, Nancy!

Sitting in President Kennedy’s rocking chair at the Waldorf Astoria is as close as I get to NY Democratic Politics.  If I were Nancy I would put on my tap shoes and avoid the old soft shoe!

Rangel is a blight on the Democratic party.  He has so many shady deals going, you don’t know what to charge him with first.  The four apt rentals in NYC that were supposed to be for the poor should have gotten him kicked out of his job a few years ago.  I know why they keep allowing him to continue. They need his vote but it is really outrageous.

I agree with Liz on this one. Rangel is a fool. He needs to be brought down. Who cares about votes.

Nancy P is a woman who does not belong in that seat.  I said it all along she is dangerous and needs to go.  Rangel should be out as well.  This whole country is struggling and what he did is outrageous.

People, in general, do not like strong, opinionated women so Polosi is in a no win situation as I see it.  No matter the issue, she will be critized my most of the Republicans and some of the Dems.  Maybe women haven’t come as far as we thought they did. As for Charlie, he needs to come clean on this mess he’s created and let the chips fall where they may.M

Pelosi needs to step up to the plate and demand full financial disclosure from Rangel.  Let the punishment fit the crime, all of the facts he has hid for years.  Payback time!!! is at hand.
