Liz Smith on Obama's Dogfight

Liz Smith
We should keep supporting President Obama’s status in this dogfight (it’s not our country), and we should be encouraging to the people of Iran. Even Pat Buchanan, arch conservative, believes Obama’s position on Iran is the right one. What does the Conservative Right want? Another war for us with Iran or to worsen relations with a government and a people that may be softening up without the irritation of George Bush. Regardless of who, which side is in power in the near future in Iran, that is who Obama will have to deal and negotiate with. We should stand aside and let Iran speak for itself.

Some people forget that Obama only recieved 52.7% of the vote….not exactly a landslind, nor a mandate for changing this Nation from a free market society into a socialist society.

With 33 million of indorsement from ACORN…and Millions more from the trial laywers, he has swindled this country into a government grab that has never been seen before. No goals or exit strategy for Afganistan/Pakistan…spending at the rate of about 2 Billion an hour…

His personal approval rating is dropping and his performance ratings are even lower. Obama is an inexperienced politician that using this country as his personal social experiment.

He has lied, is lying now and more people had better look that right in the face.

Only socialists can support what Obama is doing this country. All others that do, must be gullible as hell….

Ronald Regan was one of the greatest Presidents we ever had (and I was voting democrat at the time!). He managed to get the Berlin Wall down among many other things he did along with Margaret Thatcher.

We’ll have to agree to disagree:) I think he was horrible. His legacy is a false spin doctored one.

S G- I just can not help myself!  But where in the heck do you come up with this stuff?  Are you for real or do you purposely like to get a rise out of anyone that is even slightly Republican?  How could anyone believe Reagan’s legacy is a myth?  Do you remember, "Mr. Gorbichef tear down that wall!"  (Sorry for the mispell of his name)  I had a brain freeze!  Anyway, it just is not possible that everything over the past decades that the Rupublican have neve accomplished anything at all.  That is the real myth.  Just like I know that the Democrats have accomplished many things over the years.  It is just common sense to give credit where credit is due, especially if the reason is determined by party affiliation.  Just isn’t fair nor right. I believe this is one of the biggest reasons our country is so divided, and for me that is just ridiculous!

The documents on his presidency are due out soon and I for one can’t wait. They will tear down the myth. When clinton lied it didn’t cost anyone’s  life. When Clinton left office we were in the black and not owned by China.

It is not OUR business! These are the sort of things that have gotten us into trouble with other countries and their demons (extremist groups). Do you not think that we have enough of our own problems to deal with? I am sure President Obama is monitoring the situation, but for now he sees no reason to interfere and I agree with him. Good for him!

I’m not sure what the right answer is with the Iranian situation today, but I do have a compelling question:

Where would the USA be without the aid of France during the revolution?

Bill, I am not sure either, but one thing I know is that we can’t be on the front-line of cleaning other countries political messes. We have a lot going on right here and our focus should be on our problems. If things get out of hand, them we should help smoothing things out, but until it hasn’t, we should stay out of it. We have been a target for many radical extremist groups who believe that we interfere in their business and we have paid for it, so let someone like England, France or even Canada take the lead in this one. Although they do not have Military power like the United States, because their motto is peace. However they do tend to use more diplomatic talks to solve these sort of issues; so let them try. We cannot be the world police every time some idiots leader, dictator decide to cause problems.

it is our business to support those in support of democracy—being "nice" or neutral to this regime will not make them want to destroy us any less—don’t be naive

Not quite the same situation, but consider the voyage of the damned in 1939:

I agree with S G…and I have a question for you…are you Canadian?  Second request….that last statement of your is pretty broad…could you pleasse identify some specifics?  I learned in the 5th grade that "Universal statements’ , such as your last sentence, were perceived as false statements, as there is usually as many exceptions to them as there are humans……

"""Oh, just one more thing, what in the heck does being Canadian have Anything to do with Iran??""

Nothing—-I was just curious if canuck canuck was Canadian…I didn’t ask you, I asked HER.  Why?  Curious to know if Wow had gone International….if I was rude to you,  by asking canuck if she was Canadian, then hopefully you will accept my apology—-as I would not purposely intend to insult you when I ask someone else a question.

Patty- Just trying to be supportive of other women, which I realize many women on this site have not a clue what or how to do that, it really is a travesity that some have to be so hateful, sarcastic, and just plain mean because somebody elses opioion or view differs from theirs.  I am glad that your reply got through, there is not any reason to behave in a way that it wouldn’t get through.  Your sarcasm is very becoming of women that Should be supporting and learning from one another.  I happen to support Canuck and care and some would not understand that.  That is why I asked, which obviously was acceptable, because I did not get deleted!
