Liz Smith on Suicide Bombings: 'We're Not Immune to These Horrors'

Liz Smith
Well, we’re not immune to these horrors but the average person hasn’t the slightest idea about what might be done about such things. This is the latest fanaticism afflicting the word. It emerges from a rabid and irrational approach to religious and cultural differences. One of these days it might pass off and cease to be the latest function of trying to change things through radical means, i.e., suicide.

Gosh, if that happens, we might as well give up on living.

When you read my writing regarding "The Eagle"

(simpletownUSA.com)…a work I did in 2007 …you will know how I feel.

I agree with you, Ms. Smith. Fanatical Religion regardless of faith needs to be addressed by the People of Our Common World.

It makes me angry to hear the daily news reports. So I paint, because that’s all I know how to do…and hopefully someday my work will be seen for it’s commentary on that truth and reality. It starts with strong women willing to stand up and say "This is Wrong!" because men love the status quo…it gives them their power and control.

That being said, I am married to a man. …a good man who trusts in me and understands my independence with value and appreciation because I could not be me, any other way.
