Thanks for your affirmation, J Holmes. I thought perhaps one of the most memorable lines in 20th century film had stopped being so memorable after all ….

Nice idea, but how does one manage to think like a middle aged Hispanic woman? It’s hard enough thinking like a middle aged anything.

The cartoon should read:  " We are so over the Republicans already can we move on"?????

The Hispanic women I know are tough, because they have to be, to survive in the workplace where prejudice runs rampant. One Hispanic woman in my old workplace (she was there over 25 years) told me that during her first week she was told, "You won’t last a month here," by fellow coworkers. I cannot imagine being judged so harshly, so unfairly, so rudely—simply because of my background.

She helped me during an especially bad time I had with sexual harassment by coworkers, when I had to confront the males of the old boy’s network. She sat me down, told me in no uncertain terms that I had to be better than them, and "For God’s sake, toughen up!" I stopped crying, stopped pitying myself, and stood up for my rights. I will never forget her and the wonderful example she gave, not just as an Hispanic woman, but as a woman, period.

I love this cartoon, because it reminds me of her. Thank you for this.
