Mary Matalin: Obama Brought on Cheney Criticism

Matalin, a former Cheney spokeswoman, claims the president deserves Cheney’s criticism.

The Washington Post today has a piece on how Republican Party members are uncomfortable with Dick Cheney’s constant criticism of President Obama.

While many of the sources — most of whom preferred to be anonymous — say Cheney’s television appearances hurt their party, Mary Matalin, a Republican strategist who once worked as Cheney’s spokeswoman, came to the former vice president’s defense.

According to Matalin, it’s Obama who deserves the blame for Cheney’s outbursts:

If Barack Obama had come in and done what he said he was going to do and look at the stuff and see what is working, then Cheney would have continued to do what he was doing — working on memoirs, finishing his house. He’s got a good life. He’s got stuff going on. He doesn’t care about being on TV. There’s no more politics there. He’s not settling any scores. He just wants people to understand.

Another source, meanwhile, said that though Cheney may make valid points, he’s doing the Republican Party a huge disfavor: "Even if he’s right, he’s absolutely the wrong messenger … We want Bush to be a very distant memory in the next election. The more Cheney is on the front burner, the more difficult it’s going to be."

"Even if he’s right, he’s absolutely the wrong messenger " … kind of says it all. With 20% favorable ratings he should leave the scene and go "duck" hunting and leave the Party in new hands …. which hands ?  That’s the issue.

Mary matalin is always entertaining, as is her husband - would I love to be a fly on the wall in THEIR house !

The point that Cheney is “the wrong” messenger validates his points. He has everything to loose…and nothing to personally gain…EXCEPT the knowledge that he didn’t sit back—work on his memoirs or his house—and let National security be hurt by an Administration playing politics with same. Cheney spoke out on this past weekends’ Sunday a.m. shows. Wednesday afternoon, President Obama “rethinks” the release of the much heralded by the left ‘torture’ photographs (after he had back pedalled on the release of the ‘torture’ memos as well). A coinky dink? Maybe. Maybe not.

My intention to state my disgust: They crawl out of the woodwork to blame Obama? Obama did not manipulate the laws for his purpose. Obama did not twist the constitution and think he was the all exhaulted one. Dickco and company I hope hang themselves good. They show their fear. Hang yourselves with more rope. I hope all responsible for the terror they caused go to jail. They put our soldiers in jeopardy. They are only bullies. They never served their country but they sacrificed so many for their greed. I hope they go to jail and military families sue the hell out of them for endangerment.

The country has stated their disgust with Obama and his inexcusable decision to endanger our troops and citizens. That’s what is disgusting. Obama who has zero experience is now getting his on the job training from the people who are in the know.

Obama only knows one thing…polls. The consumate campaigner does follow those. Every Wed. he hold a 2 hr. meeting to review the polls and focus groups. The polls are NOT in favor of releasing photos.

Cheney can take all of the evil slung his way….however personal it may get. One thing he will not sit idle and allow, is for our troops and our citizens to be endangered by Obama’s little political pandering.

Good for Cheney. He put himself out there one more time for all of us. Obama had NO other alternative, ALL the people who know came out and advised Obama about what he has no experience with. One thing that Obama will NOT do is release ALL of the memos….he will look like the inept fool that he is.

Nope, Obama wants for all of this torture stuff to go silently into the night…..Obama has Pelosi where he wants her…and now he would like for it all to be a memory.

Hilliary had better put on her seatbelt…

So, Kelly, do you think we can accurately report that the reason Obama did not release the photos was because "Rasmussen said it would be a bad idea?"

Dahlings, what would you EXPECT Cheney’s former spokesperson to say?

She is a woman that has and does stand on her own. To insult her by saying that she is EXPECTED to support Cheney is a dis service to her and women in her position. Is that the only thing that crosses your mind? She is obviously not a woman that can not accept another opinion…look who she is married too.

Honestly, that is a weak retort in every way.

My dear, do you know what a spokesperson does?  She speaks for someone else.  There is no room for dissent in that position.

And, Kelly dahling, she certainly does not accept the opinion of her spouse.  Have you not seen them together on "Meet the Press?"

You may agree with her opinion, dahling, but nothing I said was "weak" just because does not your belief, my dear.

Well now that Obama is back peddling I guess what Cheney had to say hit home?  Maybe it made Obama and his team stop and think before acting this time which is good.  We want them to think first and then act, not act and then think.  Case in point:  Obama gave a news conference about his housing plan and how to help homeowners so imagine the surprise of those who work for mortgage companies whose phone started to ring immediatly after the announcement and all they could say is "we know nothing about it"…they still had to be trained and given the proper paperwork, imagine how pissed those homeowners were…Maybe giving the information to the banks & mortgage companies and then making the announcement to call for assistance, then the right assistance could have been given, not "you will have to wait until we get the infor"…

OH well…I am just glad those photos won’t be released and upset that Obama is turning out NOT to be the transparent President he claimed he would be.

Yes we know all the arguments, Bush & Comp lied us into a war, they did this and that and got rid of this and that, its the same argument.  They are gone so lets focue on Obama and Comp and what they are doing…If they do something that Bush & Comp feels wrong they have the right as Americans to voice their opinions as long as there is a news station willing to give them air time.  That is the American way, just like everyone else has their way of letting Obama know how unhappy or happy they are with him and his decisions.
