Mary Wells Takes Notice

Mary Wells
America has had elections that were loudly questioned. Americans would have thought it extraordinarily presumptuous of Iran to meddle in them. I am surprised at the number of Iranians demonstrating and realize how little I understand Iran. The possibilities excite me and now I want to know a lot more than I do about Iran and Iranians.

I have already compared the 2009 election in Iran to the Gore/Bush election of 2000, in which Al Gore won, but the supreme court stopped the vote counting and gave the election to George W., which resulted in the worst presidency in American history and an international tragedy of irrevokable proportions.  Don’t say it can’t happen here because it already has and we will be suffering the repercussions for generations.  I wish the  American people had shown the cajones the Iranian people are showing now.  If so ,our country and the world would be  better and more peaceful today.

The Al Fraken election (he still hasn’t been elected but he’s probably going to be), will have to rank high as one of the most questionable.

Others would be those congressmen who are indicted while they are in the middle of an election and still elected (or maybe they weren’t elected, but they should have been taken off the ballott—-I don’t remember who that was but I know it happened).

Ms. Wells,  If we look back through our own history we see a lot of turmoil, marches, revolution.

I really don’t understand how an adult American can be so surprised.  I guess they didn’t pay attention in school. This has been going on all over this planet for years.  Maybe because it’s the first time for many Americans to see it first hand.

I am just glad the Iranian people are able to handle it. I hope they are able to get the end result they want (fairness) without more bloodshed. It should be a lesson to those of you who want a theocracy, power and religion are a dangerous brew.

After the GWB fiasco, I’m not sure I will ever be in full support or trust  our voting procedures.  We allowed the court to select our President, and then in a collective stupor, we relected him with the lowest percentage of votes of any President in history.  Perhaps that was the wake up call we needed because this past election brought a new level of energy and excitement that has not been seen in many years.  This is what is happening in Iran, and they are charting a new history lesson.  The children and grandchildren of the young protestors will tell their stories of June, 09, for years to come.

Maybe we should have followed Iran’s example and more of us should have moved out into the streets after the election of 2000.  WE were so passive about it.  (However, I don’t know too much about this, since I didn’t television in those days.)

I don’t want to sound too isolationist but I think we should let Iran sort out Iran and we do the best we can with diplomatic relations with whoever is left standing (figuratively, of course).  We have spent far too much money and too many lives interfering with other country’s business.  We need to concentrate on our own.  Diplomacy and not intereference is my humble opinion,

HI, LC,

This is one of the areas that you and I will respectfully disagree on.

Although I didn’t vote for BO, when he took office I wished him well and gave him my support. I’m all about patriotism and supporting our democracy. Sadly, since that time I’ve seen him spend money through the roof, develop new offices, appoint new czars, put a lid on what can be said, put forth new ObamaCare plans that aren’t wholly rational, and conduct meetings with foreign leaders that left me cringing. So far I haven’t seen any positive results. Not one.

Whoops, I stand corrected. He achieved rock star status on television, I’m told.

Revisiting 2000 is a little disingenuous when 2008 (the ACORN effect) is completely overlooked. In both the primaries and general election, precincts had over 100 percent turnout (surprise! ACORN can even help the dead to vote!!!); and of course there were the ‘helpful’ ACORN poll watchers in Philly (who knew clubs were patriotic gear???) All voter intimidation charges against those “watchers” were subsequently dropped by—-big surprise—-the Obama Administration. The same bunch who bring it all full circle with the billions (yes with a ‘b’) appropriated (quid pro quo) back to ACORN. Maybe the Iranian youth can help us out with that one?

you’re exactly right mary—our last election was a farce, promoted and sold to "unsuspecting" youth and and other uninformed people by the msm

Mary and under stimulated, I could not agree with you more!  It is unbelievable to me that any American would seriously compare the 2000 election to what is going on in Iran.  That is outrageous!!!  They are sore losers-period and will never let it go.  My god, it was in the court system forever!  Unless, those of you who are so left do not believe in our legal system???  The Acorn ordeal is just a fiasco and a sickening one at that.  Not only did the dead vote, but people were paid with various items vote  and to vote more than once!  Not to mention convicted felons were voting.  So maybe, some need to get realistic and look at the facts.  Plus, my god-Let it Go, it was 9 years ago!!  It is called Move On!  And I don’t mean move on. org, but I am sure that is where many get their misinformed information.

Nine years later and someone is still talking about it…without mentioning, of course, the democrat-fueled "hanging chad," "pregnant chad," "dimpled chad" debacle. What a fiasco!
