Meghan McCain Snags Six-Figure Book Deal

Meghan McCain already has "blogger extraordinaire" and "Laura Ingraham’s Enemy No. 1" on her résumé. And she’ll soon be able to add published author to it, as well.

Hyperion this week was the lucky winner of a book deal with the 24-year-old daughter of Sen. John McCain, R-AZ. But it’s coming at a hefty price; The New York Observer says McCain’s advance will be somewhere in the high six-figure range. While no one quite knows what the book will be about, the Observer notes that McCain, who writes a column for The Daily Beast, will like focus on the future of the Republican Party and how it can attract the younger, less-graying vote. No doubt Ann Coulter will also get a mention, at the very least. McCain has made no bones about the fact she considers the conservative talking head, well, less than pleasant.

"I straight up don’t understand this woman or her popularity. I find her offensive, radical, insulting and confusing all at the same time. But no matter how much you or I disagree with her, the cult that follows Coulter cannot be denied," she wrote in her Daily Beast column last month.

This will be Miss McCain’s second book; the first was a biographical picture book about her father entitled My Dad, John McCain, published last fall.

Ann Coulter said "I straight up"….? What is she, about 15 years old? The funniest part is where Coulter says she finds Megan "offensive and insulting"… the queen of offensive and insulting must have seen Megan in her mirror, mirror, on the wall… here come the poison apples!

Deburca…read the article again.  Megan said that about Couter ..not the othe way around!..the key statemtn in this article in case you also missed it is "While no one quite knows what the book will be about"!!!

She did a photo book for children before and she did a photo blog during the campain…..all these assumptions are ridiculous!

DeBurca obj- I should not go looking for trouble, but here I am again.  You seem to accuse me of not being able to read quite often and I also would like to ask you to read the article again.  You did make a mistake by just assuming it was Ms. Coulter saying "I straight up" when infact you can see or read for yourself that she obviously said No Such Thing.

I hope Megan McCain, in her book, can reach out to young voters and stress the importance that they can save America from being "just another country" like Europe.   Change is good but radical change for America will destroy the core and take us from an extraordinary country to an ordinary country.   What is fascinating about young voters is that they mature and develop at a rapid rate and as they earn their way towards higher incomes will become more and more aware of our tax system and how it penalizes those who are innovative, dedicated and motivated by financial rewards.

You go, Megan McCain, reach the young, educated, motivated individuals who remember how hard their parents worked to put them through college and grad school when America was a great country.   Something tells me they will want the same for their own children one day.

Leeb, now you know why I have taken on the financial responsibility to put my grandchildren through college.   All three of my children stepped out of college debt-free.   From the day they were born I started preparing for the day when they would be able to go to any university they wanted to.   I take personal responsibility seriously.    Most republicans do.

Young voters today will eventually grow up and "understand"  what republicans are fighting for….today more than ever,  as it impacts them personally in educating their own children.

Megan is such a nice young lady very clear headed and actually makes good sense,  she and more like her are needed to bring the Rep Party out of the dark ages.  I admire her for speaking the truth about her own party even when it’s not popular to do so,  I hope she goes on to bigger and brighter things.  The McCains did a good job with raising her.

Meghan did a children’s book about her father and it is really good! I think she will do well in whatever she chooses to do and we may find her in the political arena in the years ahead. She has a lot of middle of the line ideas I really like regarding the Republican party. Congrats for the support you give your children and grandchildren deber!

I hope that Meghan can lead the Republican you out of the dark ages and back from the brink of libertarian influence.  Repbulicans think they are fighting for freedom but I don’t know what freedom they are talking about.  They agree with the patriot act that certainly takes away more freedom than anyother thing that has been done.

They were sleeping for 8 years and now they are awake and wish they would go back to sleep if they are not going to be part of the solution.  I am sure that Europe resents the constant put downs of the right wing.

Personal responsibility is not the sole domain of the conservative right wing.  Many democrats pay for their childrens and grandchildrens educations.  Anyone who gets a student loan and pays it back, has paid for their education.  Somehow conservatives think that a student loan is welfare. They want to go to war at the drop of a hat.  Right now conservatives want to just blow up the ship and get the hostage killed.  I am proud that my country values the life of one person.  They could end this standoff by just killing everyone.  Then everyone would know not to mess with the mighty  Right?  This is the conservative way.

You know, I don’t think we will ever understand how the Cons minds work.  All I know is that their motto of dropping bombs and asking questions later has not worked but they feel quite comfortable in doing that and yet many profess to be so "pro life"!!!!  They remain a mystery to me.

All I know is I will never understand the Left’s acceptance of abortion and destroying personal property to save owls, plants, etc as a ploy to destroy  a persons means of employment also!

Most of us on the left DON’T accept abortion as you claim, we think it should be allowed in certain cases..rape and incest!!  No one with any sense would think abortion for abortions sake is a good idea!!!  Yet the same argument could be turned to those on the right as well…so pro-life yet see nothing wrong with going to war at the drop of a hat!!  Get my drift?

Very simplistic to say all of the RIGHT are anxious to go to war!  NOT TRUE.  But many do believe we should defend our people, rights and Democracy!

Just like the Navy taking care of the Pirates!

There was a rush to war in Iraq and many if not most on the right were in favor of that because Bush said it was so!!    As for the Navy Seals rescuing that Capt they did a great job and all credit to them and to our President for taking action on it.  Seeing as he was being condemned by a certain right wing radio host Tammy Bruce for doing nothing!!!

“‘All I am trying to be is a young, cool Republican woman for other Republican women,’ McCain said in an interview with POLITICO

McCain is mum about Palin now; a Daily Beast spokesman went so far as to warn POLITICO — repeatedly — against asking McCain about the Alaska governor.

Asked about her reluctance to talk about her father’s former running mate, McCain said: ‘I feel at this point, I don’t feel censored at all. Not discussing Palin is a personal preference.’…

McCain linked up with the Daily Beast through Nicole Wallace, a Republican strategist who served as adviser to McCain’s presidential campaign.”
