She is an educated, sincere, and caring person. She knows enough to choose being involved in the things that matter to her. And finally we really have a First Lady who gets out and moves around and gets her hands dirty. She has fun! And she likes making friends and talking with people. And she likes dressing in the things that make her comfortable and also look good on her. Has she worn a suit yet? I haven’t seen her in one. She likes color and flow. More power to her.

I am so proud and pleased to have Michelle Obama representing us as our First Lady, and being from the Southside of Chicago myself, there is an extra pleasure to it!

You know, I can respect all comments, but there are some over the top, it seem some are jealous. But is that so, Mrs. Obama have not tried to be no-one but herself. Jackie O, and Laura  had their time, so it is time some that has a (nat) come to grips, Mrs. O, is going to be herself. She has never ask to be and fashion Icon, that was bestored upon her, she does it very well.

No Juanita…not jealous…not close. However, she is the one that hired a Hollywood stylist to do her make up and follow her whenever she travels…not quite the "down to earth" person that is sometimes portrayed….that is something that is fair game.

But if I could afford one…I’d have one too!

See what I mean, irrational rage. No matter what these people say or do, they get bashed for it.

I love the official White House portrait, the cover with Oprah, and the picture of her and QEII arm and arm!

Mrs. Obama has great sense of fashion, and maybe she doesn’t hit the mark 100% of the time, who does?

I think she’s doing a great job so far!

I love the official portrait too! It is gorgeous and so unique to her personality. Her warmth comes through in her smile and the dress and the arms show that she is a woman to be reckoned with!

I find all this discussion about Michelle’s clothes boring and insignificant. I wouldn’t care if she paraded around in leotards and sweatshirts, (and I bet she wishes she could). I think she’s fabulous.

But that wouldn’t fit the elitist attitude! They are millionaires and leaders of the free world (for the time being). They have to court Hollywood and magazine covers! It’s part of the celebrity worship that got him there!

And if anyone is entitled to an elitist attitude, it’s Michelle Obama.  Why wouldn’t the best of the best feel good about it?

Ohhhhhhh Gramma….come on now…one must walk the walk if they wanna talk the talk.

Pizza flown in from Chicago? What do you think that cost per piece? That in itself is a slap in the face of those that are struggling.

A stylist to follow her around? How does that show respect for the common woman who she pretends to represent? No other first lady has has one.

Obama touts Green and tells us to do with less while he flys a plane to Iowa to make a speech on conserving energy. 91,000 gallons of fuel. The speech should have been given in Washington. But he doesn’t like to stay there much.

What did that inaguration cost us? How many MILLIONS?

Elitist attitude. Millionaires. Phonies both of them.

Kelly -  The article posted at WOW is practically preaching to the choir.  Most of the ladies here are almost simpering in their love of this new First Lady.  Yet ….. is there really anything wrong with their attitude?   There isn’t, is there.  However, when the comments go so far as to   e x a g g e r a t e   the accomplishments of Mrs. Obama as compared to former First Ladies, then the love-in has to be brought back to reality.    Your comments are very true but then many posters here might see them as letting the air of their balloon… and they might not like it.   They just do not want to see the Obamas as elitists.

I’ve commented about the First Lady’s wardrobe on earlier threads.  Phyllis responded with a comment similar to the one she made here …something along the line of who cares what she wears.  And Phyllis is correct … up to a point.  So, I will refrain from making any further remarks as to Mrs. Obama’s wardrobe…… at least until a future thread becomes so enamored of her choice of clothing that a touch of humor and/or realism is necessary.

How exactly is Laura Bush more accomplished than Michelle? What exactly are Laura Bushes accomplishments?  Please answer this for me. Why are the Obamas elitists and not the Bushes or the McCains? You guys need to get used the idea of having a black president with a black wife and kids in the whitehouse. It was bound to happen.  Times do change. No matter how scary it may be for some. One day we will have a woman president. One day we will have a gay president with his or her partner in the whitehouse. One day an atheist will be president. One day a black woman will be president. That’s just how the world works. Surely you din’t think blacks will alwalys have to sit in the back?

Hi Kelly..

Actually MO needs a stylist to follow her around, although it does seem like a waste of money and time as it hasn’t improved her looks or style as of date! She definately has her own style (certainly not that of a first lady). Yep..phonies, I agree!

Diamond " (certainly not that of a first lady)"  … you mean not a dowdy Stepford wife? So true! She is fabulous.
