Nancy Pelosi Says CIA Misled Her and Congress | 05/14/2009 2:45 pm

Nancy Pelosi on Waterboarding: 'The CIA Was Misleading the Congress' (Video)

At the same time, the administration was misleading the congress on weapons of mass destruction in Iraq,’ Pelosi said Thursday.

Nancy Pelosi, who has endured constant scrutiny since saying she was unaware of harsh interrogation techniques being used on detainees, attempted to clear the air today at a press conference. She said that, in September 2002, the Central Intelligence Agency briefed her only once about the interrogation techniques — and was told that waterboarding was not being employed.

"I was informed then that Department of Justice opinions had concluded that the use of enhanced interrogation techniques was legal," she said Thursday at a news conference. "The only mention of waterboarding at that briefing was that it was not being employed."

She then said she later learned that the CIA gave her inaccurate information.

"We also now know that techniques, including waterboarding, had already been employed, and that those briefing me in September 2002 gave me inaccurate and incomplete information. At the same time, the Bush Administration was misleading the American people about the threat of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq."

Pelosi also said that the government under President George W. Bush was a tangled web of lies. She went on to say that one of her staff members was informed of harsh interrogation methods in 2003.

"The CIA was misleading the Congress. At the same time, the administration was misleading the Congress on weapons of mass destruction in Iraq," Pelosi said.

Gee, I believe ya’, Nancy. Who would doubt an honest woman like you, after all?

Speaker Pelosi has been an unwavering supporter of Amnesty International and of the human rights agenda in the United States for decades.  Which is more than I can say of many of the people criticizing her.

Speaker Pelosi has changed her story so many times, even she doesn’t know what she knows and/or remembers.

What speech? To me that was babbling of untruths.

And your contribution to reclaiming our country from the robber barons has been…….????

Mugsy, don’t get too comfortable….I believe President Obama is more interested in his popularity rating than playing democrat right now.  We may have to give him a new platform….instead of Hope and Change it should now be….Cope and Blame.

The one thing I know for sure is that when an American president falls out of grace with Americans…it is swift and it is unrelenting.     Buckle your seatbelt.

With people like you voting and shooting off your mouth in public, how could I get comfortable.  Oh, that’s right.  We’re in power now, and you’re not.  So you go buckle your seatbelt and figure out how you’re going to survive now that your people have driving the economy into a wall.  Have fun with that.  And be sure to blame President Obama for your own stupidity.

Mugsy, you are clearly on the defensive and in so doing you are not making any sense at all.   Wish I could respond but there’s nothing to respond to.   Maybe next time you’ll make more sense.   I’ll look forward to it.

Yet again, twist what I said.  Speaking of twisting, how in your mind do you manage to deal with the fact that The Clinton Administration left us with a budget surplus, and the Bush Administration left us with the largest national debt in history (topping only that left by the Reagan Administration) and yet you still have some deformed thought that it is the Democrats who are the problem?  I am not defensive, I’m simply not willing to allow you to make unfounded, untruthful statements about the Speaker or or about President Obama or "liberals" or whatever else you call people you don’t like without telling you to your nose that it is bs.  Because it is.

I find no pleasure in twisting anything.   Forget the Clinton administration….it is long gone.   What is relevent is that Bush left Obama with $1.2 trillion and Obama took it up to $11 trillion plus in less than 100 days.   How’s your math, Mugsy?   Good, I knew you were intelligent enough to work through that equation.

President Obama is in trouble with America.   Buyer’s remorse needs attention.

No kidding…boy was she a mess or what? If there had been a lie dectector hooked up to her…it would have blown up and melted down!

And then she had to throw in that bit about the WMDs ….like that will get all the left back behind her. I guess that she doesn’t think the Dems are capable of knowing the difference between a blatant lie and partisan politics. What an insult to all the people who supported her….

Well Kelly, it looks like Polosi might not be lying after all, Sen. Bob Graham has come out and stated the CIA were not truthful with him either. This is getting more interesting all the time. Say, is Ron Paul’s son going to run for the senate??

Mel…please…I know that you are a smart woman….I KNOW it…please don’t do this..

Pelosi is done. Ask yourself this…why would Obama decide to bring up this waterboarding thing now?

Micheal Hayden had banned waterboarding in 2003. It was a moot point as it was effectively banned and not used since 2003. Only 3 terrorists had been waterboarded from 2002-2003 under new strict guidelines.

Why would Obama makes this public, knowing that over 65 members of Congress supported waterboarding and had been briefed over 40 times about EITs? Obama wanted Pelosi disarmed.

He has done it. Now he will not persue any more…not the photos…nothing.

Kelly. Obama is being pushed by many groups, Move On, Code Pink, Congressmen and Senators and many others who want to get to the bottom of this. I really think in my mind he would rather not go pursue this but the pressure is mounting. There are many that are really ticked at Polosi to begin with because she said when she became speaker " impeachment is off the table". I myself wanted to slap her!
