Democratic Sen. Harry Reid doesn’t seem to have any opponents for his 2010 election, but he and his campaign aren’t taking any chances, which explains why they’ve enlisted President Obama to appear at a forthcoming fund-raiser.

Congressional Quarterly confirms that the president will fly to Nevada on May 26 for an event called "The Good Fight," which happens to be the name of Reid’s book.

The event will be held at Caesers Palace and tickets start at $50, which will then be put into the Reid Victory Fund. That group, started in March, works closely with the state’s Democratic Party, and will help other party members in their respective elections.

Read more about the event at Congressional Quarterly.

All in the name of Money.

And what better way for a new Democratic administration to symbolize cutting out excess in a time of hardship for millions of Americans than to hold a mega-fundraiser in Las Vegas, that urban personification of understatement, for a guy with millions in hand already and no one to spend it against?

Though the Democratic Senate majority leader’s May 26 fundraiser at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace will feature Strip headliner Midler and songstress Crow, the biggest draw will be the commander in chief himself.

Nevada’s glitterati have been clamoring for a visit since Obama turned the swing state blue, though we suspect the president might want to steer clear of some parts of town.

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman is still huffing and puffing over an offhand remark in which Obama appeared to link Sin City to corporate excess. Imagine that.

Remember back in February, The Ticket had a photo of the mayor meeting with nearly naked aides and reported the even newer president was all agitated over luxury bank excursions and he said: "You can’t get corporate jets, you can’t go take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayer’s dime."

Well, now that they have finished the $357,012 taxpayer-funded photo op over the Statue of Liberty, Air Force One is coming to the capital of neon with the somewhat-less-new president, who’ll become the fundraiser in chief at least for a night.

I love this phrase: "Nevada’s glitterati …"

Nevada HAS no glitterati.

Will the DNC, or the Reid campaign team, or well heeled Dem contributors (Mr. Soros?) foot the bill for Air Force One to fly out there?

Crickets chirping…yep.  I knew that answer.  I crack myself up sometimes with my little ‘jokes.’  Ahh…that’s so funny.  I guess ‘this’ event will be part of a the Las Vegas ‘stimulus package.’

Cyber love right back at ya…LL

I wonder when the breathless, ‘we are so glad, happy, relieved, blissfull, adulating, adoring, that HE is our President ‘I love it when he smiles’ crowd will stop by this little ole thread?

More crickets chirping.  Well…not just chirping…I think the entire life cycle of a cricket generation would be gone thru during "this" wait…could it be  that President will be showing up, in AF1, in the very city he dissed business types for patronizing, to do the very thing THEY criticize most…politics.  Because, well, our new President is soooo ABOVE all of that isn’t he???

 LOL

MB, I live in PA…Reid is NV’s Murtha (without jowls, redneck insults, and self named ‘regional’ airport). It is too funny, to me at least, that the Obamapologists have’nt graced the topic with their adoring presence. I am sure Mr. Obama will find LasVegas “enchanting.”. And thank you, MB for being intellectually honest that Reid “needs” to go. Apparently, the One doesn’t agree though.

I think when politicians get feeble, they go out to the Kennedy Compound and change party affiliation.

I don’t think Obama should hold a fund raiser for Harry Reid, he has been useless and should really go.  Time for fresh blood in his place.

“Remember When Harry Reid Said: “Today’s report confirms that the so-called Social Security crisis exists in only one place — the minds of Republicans,” said Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid of Nevada. “In reality, the program is on solid ground for decades to come.”

Oh, yeah?   But, but but information was just released  that we are in trouble!   Which is it, Harry?
