Michelle Obama: Out With Processed Foods, in With Veggies

Not only is Michelle Obama bringing a bit of style to the White House, she’s also bringing healthy eating habits.
While some people may use the White House cooks to concoct fattening foods, the First Lady has told the kitchen staff to steer clear of chicken fingers and french fries, thus insuring her daughters, Sasha and Malia, eat healthy. And, no, they don’t get juice boxes. And they’re not the only ones eating well — though Mrs. Obama loves waffles and grits, she insists she doesn’t eat them on a regular basis. And of course she works out. (You’ve seen her arms, right?!)
The New York Times says healthy living is a big focus for Mrs. Obama, and she wants to stress that it’s not only for those with fatter wallets. Good food choices can be made, even in leaner economic times. Healthy-eating advocates are especially hopeful she will send that message. From the Times:
White House officials say the focus on healthy living will be a significant item on Mrs. Obama’s agenda, which already includes supporting working families and military spouses. As the nation battles an obesity epidemic and a hard-to-break taste for oversweetened and oversalted dishes, her message is clear: Fresh, nutritious foods are not delicacies to be savored by the wealthy, but critical components of the diets of ordinary and struggling families.
And with those White House chefs at her disposal, Mrs. Obama can have them drum up all sorts of new healthy dishes!

Michelle Obama is certainly not the first First Lady, and certainly won’t be the last, to insist on healthier eating habits! She joins millions of mothers who already feel the same way.
Obesity is a problem in the United States. Fast food and no exercise will do it everytime!
I think you are over dramatizing those you call "haters" for Michelle few if any have condemed her personally as an UN positive role model .
The concern ithat some habe is the elevation her to the level of Mother Theresa or that she has an ability to walk on water in less than 30 days in the White House.
She is asking for her kids to eat good healthy foods….does that make her a saint? NO Millions of mothers do that daily ! Does is send a good message to other mothers YES.
Is what she has done (so far) any more than other First Ladies have done for the good of mankind? NO
Is she looking for positive platforms to focus her time on?? YES.. Just have others before her and to follow.
But I am glad she is using her position to promote good things…..after all it is her position as First Lady to do so!
I hope Michelle can help to make the ‘Slow Food Movement’ a part of the American culture:
