Sarah Palin Discusses Trig Decision: She Had to 'Walk the Walk'

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

Sarah Palin ventured outside Alaska yesterday and headed to Indiana, where she addressed a crowd of nearly 3,000 pro-life activists.

In an especially candid moment, Palin discussed her decision making when it came to having her son, Trig, who she knew would be born with Down’s syndrome. The governor told the crowd that she knew she could abort the child, but chose to "walk the walk" and support his life.

Palin explained that she was out of Alaska when she found out, and did briefly toy with the idea of terminating the pregnancy: "There, just for a fleeting moment, I thought, I knew, nobody knows me here. Nobody would ever know. I thought, wow, it is easy. It could be easy to think maybe of trying to change the circumstances. No one would know. No one would ever know."

Her conscience and faith, however, won in the end: "It was a time when I had to ask myself, was I gonna walk the walk or I was gonna talk the talk … I had just enough faith to know that trying to change the circumstances wasn’t any answer." And for that we commend you, Gov. Palin.

So one sided - Disagreement, of another opinion does not equate to hatred.

i don’t see any hatred in this thread, i see disagreement. i guess the confusion from pro-choice advocates is that sarah palin recognizes that she had the *choice* to keep the baby or terminate, and she is lucky for her right to choose how to control her body and family. they do not understand why sarah palin would even consider a choice, when she wants to take the availability of this choice away from other women.

barrett etc

what is it that the staff of wowow.com is commending gov. palin for?

the fact that she was married, and able to care for another child?

the fact that she was married and  able to care for child affected by  DOWNS SYNDROME?

the fact that she is against abortion, so she didn’t have one?

The Washington Times, which is owned by the Korean right-wing religious cult founder, Sun Yung Moon, ran an op-ed that reads like an obit for Palin’s political career this week:

Teen pregnancy, drug charges, burglary arrests. Appearances on the "Tyra Banks Show" that resembled a Jerry Springer segment. Charges of being publicity hounds and not paying for the diapers.

The family foibles continue to play out in tabloid fashion for Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, adding unwelcome public drama for the former vice-presidential nominee as she seeks to solidify her clout within a Republican Party that is smarting from the November election and sorely in need of a leader.

And what are they NOT running?  Drug and rape charges for Obama’s family! Now that family is a continuing saga of trouble.

A 13 year old in the UK was raped-someone using a falsified birth certificate with a fingerprint matching an Obama brother!

Holy moly!!  that is the family of our President!  Come on media-you have lost any credibility!  I refuse to be stupid in America.

If the "Moonie" Times is not running a negative story about Obama, then there must be no there there. During the Bush years, when Tony Blankley was in charge, they published pretty much whatever Rove et al told them to print.

Exactly Rudi—the Moonie Times printing anything is automatically suspect. They’re no better than Fool News.

perhaps that means there are no charges against the obama family, mimi? what exactly is this continuing saga of trouble you’re talking about?

and you’re referencing a child rape in which a fingerprint of "an obama brother" was found… i’m not sure how this ties in with anything, since he was raised an only child… the fact he had extended family that he had no contact with says nothing about the first family’s character, no matter what crimes they committed.

Lemon: …since he was raised an only child… His was brought up with a half sister, the child of his Indonesian step-father.

oh i had not heard that - i had heard of some extended siblings from his father.

but again - he was not raised with "an obama brother" - so what does that have to do with his family’s integrity? we can’t control who we are related to. i’m sure everyone on this board has someone in their close family and probably several in their extended family whom they are not proud to be associated with.

Except possibly sharing some of the same DNA, Obama has very little connection with his Kenyan family.

I’m surprised you didn’t know about his sister who lives in Hawaii, because she campaigned for him a little bit.  Her name is Maya Soetoro (now Soetoro-Ng).

and that is why i questioned the poster above who was ranting about obama’s family, and how one of his brothers allegedly raped a girl. it has nothing to do with his character.

Of course you do, she validates your prejudices.

f p — that’s not really a fair argument, since we all tend to choose those who "validate" our prejudices, to be our friends as well as our role models. If we’re lucky, we have brains enough to realize that and "correct" as needed, but we all do that, liberal, conservative, whatever …
