Nancy Pelosi, CIA Interrogations | 05/18/2009 8:15 am

Rep. John Boehner: Nancy Pelosi Should Apologize to CIA (Video)

House Republican leader slams Pelosi for accusing CIA of lying to Congress about waterboarding; says show proof or say ‘sorry.’

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi should show proof that the CIA misled Congress on the use of enhanced interrogation techniques — or apologize, according to House Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio.

"Lying to the Congress of the United States is a crime. And if the speaker is accusing the CIA and other intelligence officials of lying or misleading the Congress, then she should come forward with evidence and turn that over to the Justice Department so they can be prosecuted," Boehner said on CNN Sunday night. "And if that’s not the case, I think she ought to apologize to our intelligence professionals around the world.

Pelosi last week said the CIA misled Congress on whether waterboarding was being used against certain high-level terror suspects in September 2002. Boehner defended the intelligence community, saying it has done a "marvelous job" in keeping Americans safe. "Instead of criticizing them; instead of accusing them of lying, we ought to be patting them on the back and telling them, ‘Job well done,’" he continued.

Meanwhile, Dick Cheney’s daughter, Liz, said Sunday that waterboarding was not used to produce intelligence that linked Iraq to al-Qaeda in the run-up to the war in Iraq, even though former State Department official Lawrence Wilkerson recently said "alternative" interrogations were used to find such a link.

Lying to congress is illegal. Torture is illegal too. Just another convenience thing for repubs. Nothing is ever their fault and anything they do is always justified. What a crock. I would say Bob Graham has now made me wonder what she actually didn’t know. I think there should be a truth commission today. Lets find out who really knew what. Prosecute those who signed off on it.

While we are focusing on a truth commission and spending all the time with the torture trials and trying to get President Bush and VP Cheney behind bars, then let’s just let the economy crisis in our country go down the tubes….let’s not worry about the two wars we are fighting now, let the car dealerships fail and the unemployment rise, let’s not take care of the pressing issues that are current now and worry more about the past and how we are going to take care of all the terrorists and be sure they are healthy and can be released so they can plan their attacks again against our Country.  Priorities….oh yes…!!!!

Excellent post LL!

While the Libs are over there having another pity party with the thinking they are being so picked upon, HA! they wanted this liar to open her mouth and try and sink Bush, They were just to blinded to see that Pull-a-lie-osi was just that, a liar. Now they want her to shut up because she just exposed them for the liars they are! Had they just stopped walking backwards from the start, they wouldn’t have backed into one of the biggest brick walls ever, that next to Bidens recent gaffe of telling the world, terrorists and all, where he hides out in an emergency. About the only thing he left out was the wallpaper scheme.

Ha BiBi…it’s amazing isn’t it….who would of ever thought that this country would be taking such a nose dive with the obamoco?  Such a shame.

You know in all honesty, when Bush was President and even when my industry was hard hit by 911, I still didn’t worry about this country’s ability to rebound. As soon as Nobama was elected, I have and to this day do not feel like there is a President for our country. It’s like we are a country that is floating around aimlessly and lost in a giant sea, completely unattended. That’s the best way I can describe it.

Newt had a few words to say about fallen Queen Pelosi:

“I think she has lied to the House, and I think that the House has an absolute obligation to open an inquiry, and I hope there will be a resolution to investigate her. And I think this is a big deal. I don’t think the Speaker of the House can lie to the country on national security matters,” Gingrich said.

He continued: “I think this is the most despicable, dishonest and vicious political effort I’ve seen in my lifetime.”

“She is a trivial politician, viciously using partisanship for the narrowist of purposes, and she dishonors the Congress by her behavior.”

He added that “Speaker Pelosi’s the big loser, because she either comes across as incompetent, or dishonest. Those are the only two defenses. The fact is she either didn’t do her job, or she did do her job and she’s now afraid to tell the truth.”

Gingrich is right, of course.

Deber….pelosi needs to go…but this morning the dems are all backing her on the news….she is one of their own…so even though they know she is lying, keep on supporting her….only makes the "Speaker of the House" position remain one big JOKE!

If that is the case this morning….then they all must’ve received the "email" to rally around the liar.    I believe the damage has been done.   There is no way Pelosi can undo her comments about the CIA and Leon is one democrat who will not buy into it.

She does not need to undo anything if she feels what she said is true.   I don’t think the CIA are above lying if it meant doing what the President wanted at the time to fix things to how he wanted it to be written or portrayed.   Sen Graham said that the CIA had said they briefed him 4 times when in fact they had only briefed him once…so yes they lie!!!   Panetta of course will defend them he was part of the CIA and was protecting his own, but let the memo’s come out and see what’s what.

He didn’t lie about the Iraq war, caj p.   You have been taught to think that he did.   Pelosi lied several times trying to save face….and now blames the CIA.    However, I do agree with you that the truth will come out sooner than later.

Green Tears

Good Morning! Just picking up where we left off on Friday afternoon, I see.

I have in mind those protest rally chants from the 60’s and 70’s: Hell No, Nancy’s gotta go!

Gosh, Green Tears….burning bras….free love and communes!   Assassinations…more than I care to remember!   Vietnam vets returning to a country that ignored them…how did we ever get through it all?    Maybe that’s why we Baby Boomers are quick to say, "You’re outta here, Pelosi!"
