Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) was steaming mad yesterday as AIG’s board of directors testified before a House committee — and she made sure at least one person knew it.

After the hearing before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform ended Wednesday, Politico reports that Kaptur approached AIG trustee Jill Considine in a fury — charging that AIG is sending money to banks that are exploiting people in her state of Ohio. Considine also chairs the board of a Bermuda-based company that operates offshore hedge funds.

"You are defending the worst-behaving corporations that are too big and too irresponsible," Kaptur said. "They hire outside people to come in and rape us … It’s outrageous."

Considine kept quiet until Kaptur ran out of steam and left the room. During the hearing, lawmakers wanted to know where exactly the AIG trustees’ loyalties lie; witnesses included AIG CEO Edward Liddy. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, another Ohio Democrat, accused AIG of cheating public employees in Ohio out of their pension funds.

"I came to Congress not to represent these people on Wall Street who have been shafting the American people … [We’re] not going to let you get away with it," Kucinich told Liddy.

Meanwhile, The Hill has learned that for eight months leading up to when AIG received a taxpayer bailout, top officials at the company paid little attention to the firm’s financial woes.

Good for her—she tells it like it is. And that is exactly what the big banks have done to the American people.

For once I am agreeing with a Demo. She is right on the "money" with this one.

These people need to be called to task.  It doesn’t matter who is calling it out.  Thanks, Marcy!
