Rep. Bachmann Bites Back After Democrats Launch Attack Site

When it comes to Rep. Michele Bachmann, Democrats are sort of like a dog with a chew toy. But then again, with a politician as colorful as Bachmann, it’s sort of hard not to be fascinated.
This is the same woman who said President Obama’s policy represents a "final leap to socialism," was skewered by MSNBC "Hardball" host Chris Matthews for referring to some of Obama’s supporters as "anti-American" and said the Serve America Act will lead to "reeducation camps."
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has now officially put the outspoken Minnesota Republican in its sights with a new website, bachmannwatch.com, where it claims to give you all the "lies" Bachmann tells, and then refutes them. It tries to take her to task on issues like earmarks, cap and trade, ACORN and Democratic-led spending.
The site says:
The same woman who once said Congress should be investigated for those with anti-American leanings and once argued that she couldn’t support the economic recovery act because America was ‘running out of rich people’ has continued to make fantastic claims and lies — lies that can be quickly disproven. Just check out a few of them below.
The Democrats may be hoping to take her down in the 2010 elections, but the fact of the matter is, these types of antics seem to embolden Bachmann, who is no shrinking violet. Politico says she seems more amused than anything at the latest attack.
In a fund-raising e-mail sent out to supporters soon after the launch of the DCCC site, Bachmann said this about the site:
[It’s the ] latest attempt to discredit every word out of my mouth and to paint anyone who disagrees with the liberal agenda sweeping through Washington as an extremist … It’s incredible how fast and loose they are willing to play with the truth. We thought we saw the height of their spin machine last October, but, really, it looks like this is just the beginning … The Democrats are gunning for me because I refuse to shrink from a fight. This is one fight at which we’d like front-row seats!

i find this hilarious. the website is solely about HER, not liberals, not other democrats, not the media - her own words out of her mouth.
if she can prove she didn’t say those things, have at it lady.
but until then, as deburca says, ‘pace your rage’. it doesn’t feel good to have your lies posted on the web for everyone with half a brain to see, does it?
She seems to be the new female pinata of the LEFT!….How dare a woman speak her mind much less be a conservative! Woman ONLY have rights if they toe the LIB line!
It is almost humerous the fear they have for woman of the right.
Yes, we do have a two-party system - in spite of Carl Rove’s best efforts to the contrary. The Democrats are not trying to end the two-party system, the republicans are self-destructing under the weight of their own failures and prejudices.
She is absolutly right and millions of people agree which is why she was elected !
she isn’t right if she can be proven that what she said were lies.. which many of them are.
thus, she manipulated and victimized the millions who "agreed" with her lies.
i can’t wait to see the pedestal fall…
Clearly you have failed to note that there are at least as many right-wing "third parties" as there are left-wing, so it would seem that the Right wishes to change our two-party system as well.
The Right is supposed to be about personal responsibility and intelligence and stuff, which would seem to me to indicate that you do your homework about the American political scene. Lead the way…
This isn’t true at all. I have immense respect Condileeza Rice. I have never thought of Kay Bailey Hutchison as anything but an intelligent, professional woman deserving of a sincere consideration of her thoughts and ideas. And no one has ever accused either of them of being bat crap crazy (at least, no more than any other politician you can think of—there’s always a critic somewhere.) The difference between Rice/Hutchison and Bachmann is that Rice and Hutchison are intelligent women who comport themselves as professionals, while Bachmann is an attention-seeking demagogue who more often than not shows her backside when she speaks out. Rice and Hutchison don’t go around accusing their colleagues of anti-Americanism, calling for revolution, displaying her blatant lack of knowledge about the U.S Constitution, currency, etc., etc. Every time she opens her mouth, something foolish comes out. The only thing I’m afraid of regarding Bachmann is that this type of ignorance and belligerence is taken for the gospel among so many conservatives, and rather than having the good sense to say, "She is not representative of the quality of leadership and intellect we have to provide," conservatives raise their pitchforks and shout for more.
If she had something smart to say, we wouldn’t criticize her. And if you had a modicum of independent thought, you would see that our incredulousness over her outrageously uninformed and biased rantings have less to do with her gender or her political party than with the fact that her views are completely out of keeping with reality. There are plenty of smart, well-informed and professional Republican women. Michele Bachmann, however, is not among those you should defend.
