Rod Blagojevich Asks Judge for NBC Reality Show

Ousted Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich hasn’t lost his taste for attention — or the absurd — and has asked a federal judge for permission to appear on an NBC show, "I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here."

While his A-list status may be in doubt, Blagojevich most definitely became a celebrity when he was indicted last year in trying to sell President Barack Obama’s Senate seat. Then, in an attempt to clear his name — or grab more headlines — Blago went on a media blitz in which he proclaimed his innocence to anyone who would listen … and to some who wouldn’t.

Well, Blago received a chance to make his case in court yesterday during an arraignment and pleaded not guilty to 16 criminal counts, including racketeering. He told reporters later that his legal strategy would be "the truth," according to The New York Times.

While the truth may set you free, this potential reality show could definitely help Blago pay his legal fees: NBC would pay him $80,000 a week to appear on the show, which films in Costa Rica, reports the Chicago Tribune. That is, of course, if the judge gives Blago the green light.

What a pompous baffoon!!  He is an embarassment to our state (Illinois).  I heard on the news this morning that this particular tv show will be filmed in Costa Rica…maybe he has plans to stay in Costa Rica.  Please Judge don’t let him go.

BTW, I read where he’s ticked off because no attorney firm in Chicago will offer totally free legal services like Jim Thompson (ex-governor of Illinois) did for our former convicted Governor George Ryan.  And the attorney firms aren’t rushing to represent him as they think they won’t get paid.  What a hoot!

Maybe it is an alternate reality show. They could air it in an alternate universe. Ratings and advertising dollars might be a problem.

Still, it would be another opportunity to cancel his keister.

;-D

By all means, let us reward the criminals with more fame and money. Not only are the networks offering him a show, but they are also offering a show to Michael Vick, of dog fighting fame! The networks have gone too far in trying to get ratings. I actually enjoy some of the reality shows, but I would never watch either of these.

This unbelievable!  What in the heck is wrong with NBC, what are they thinking, promoting a criminal and making (trying to) a celebrity out of him?  Surely, the judge will have more sense than to allow him and NBC to go through with this.  As it was said already, "it’s almost as funny as Franken!"  Where are the morals and values that we use to be known for?

Deborah — it’s all about rankings!  Pretty soon Katie Couric will do a show starring Bernie Maddof in his jump suit in a prison cell!  "Flim Flam and Scam with Bernie".  Or perhaps, "Weekend at Bernie’s".

We need to change the victim’s law to include crap like this. (What I am referring to is the law that says that criminals that commit high profile crimes cannot benefit monitarily from the crime).  This guy is only famous because he committed a crime:  letting him appear on a reality tv show at this point is like letting Charles Manson on American Idol.  Ridiculous!
