Radio personality, bestselling author and conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh was front and center this month when White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel unofficially dubbed him the new leader of the Republican Party. More fireworks ensued a day later when GOP Party Chairman Michael Steele derisively referred to Limbaugh as "a performer"; amid new hubbub, he immediately retracted his statement. With the mainstream media and the blogosphere abuzz about the power vacuum in the Republican Party, we asked wOw Intuitive Peggy Rometo to weigh in on Limbaugh’s current state of mind – and what lies ahead for the controversial talk-show host.

wOw: How does Rush Limbaugh feel about his potential status as the future of the Republican Party?

Peggy: He relishes this role and feels justified in this position and thinks he is a natural choice. He’s glad the party has come around to acknowledge his worth. He believes that he is persuasive and has a recognizable name, and because of that, people will want to hear his opinion.

wOw: What is his leadership style?

Peggy: He finds it difficult to allow others to lead. He demands respect, yet doesn’t always give it to others. He can be obstinate to a fault in order to get in his own way; he knows how to manipulate people to get what he wants. He’s also a very strategic thinker; like a chess player, he knows how to think a few moves ahead. This impresses the people around him.

wOw: What are his leadership goals?

Peggy: He’s looking for a way to upset the Democrats with a new campaign that has bigger and better ideas. His attitude is, "We’ll fix the economy, with or without them." He wants to prove to the country that the Republicans are smarter than the Democrats, and are better equipped to handle the issues we’re facing.

wOw: Can the Republicans rely on Limbaugh to be their de-facto leader?

Peggy: My sense is that it will be a temporary position; he has been brought in to start up the engines and to provide unity to the group. This scenario reminds me of a vice president who steps in when the president leaves office, but is not re-elected. He will continue to be in the thick of it for the next few years, but his public role will be diminished come the last quarter of this year.

wOw: What is Limbaugh’s state of mind right now?

Peggy: He’s nervous, yet hopeful. I feel a sharp headache, which reflects his intense need to perform and make something happen. His fierce reputation for moving mountains is putting undue pressure on him. He feels he’s carrying a heavy weight on his shoulders — to create reform, pull the party together and find new resolution to old problems. He wants to live up to this goal, and to hold high public office. To do this, he needs to trust his instincts. He has pure motives and believes in his party.

wOw: What is the Republicans’ outlook?

Peggy: Behind the scenes, the mood is a bit desperate: "We need to get this together!" Yet there is also a hopefulness associated with the feeling of moving in the right direction. There are still battles being waged internally, but collectively, for now, there is a united front. In July, I sense that both parties will become more united as a whole, reminiscent of the weeks following 9/11. This will be a time when all politicians will work together to rebuild our economic infrastructure.

wOw: What is Limbaugh like to work with?

Please forgive me, but this is a marvelous opportunity for me to say, "History will be very kind to George Bush."

Is WOW for real here? Are they joking? A PSYCHIC?? How absolutly ridiculous this article is. How in the hell can this woman speak to what Republicans think? Which Republicans?

This is a totally assinine article, demeaning to the author and the readers that she attempted to manipulate.

I have some interesting tea leaves that say a whole lot about Obama…anyone interested in hearing about that?

Me too !!   Especially this part:

His fierce reputation for moving mountains is putting undue pressure on him. He feels he’s carrying a heavy weight on his shoulders — to create reform, pull the party together and find new resolution to old problems.

With all due respects to Peggy Rometo, her profile appears to be generic and would fit any anyone who craves the limelight.

I admit to being, for some years now, completely flummoxed by this radio ranter and his ilk.  WHY does such a large (apparently as much as 34%) portion of our citizenry LIKE being dumbed down?  Why this seemingly irresistible yen for the outrageous statement and the black versus white viewpoint, leading to a sense of glee otherwise only found in a dental office’s laughing gas or a band of hyenas in the wild?

I just do not identify with or understand relishing stupidity.  A desire to better oneself, to study all angles of any question, to drink in every possible fact attached to any question, THESE human traits I comprehend;  but this large ape and his followers, I believe they call themselves "ditto-heads," remind me of nothing so much as a band of chimps jumping up and down while making nonsensical noises at the top of their lungs.

The Right often makes reference to our Founding Fathers when defending their statements.  If they actually own the ability to read and understand the written word, they might benefit from The Federalist Papers and The Anti-Federalist Papers.  Two parties.  Two sides to the various questions.  But Oh so much civility and genius!

I, too, say thank god for our founders;  yet know they must be gagging in their graves.  The likes of Rush Limbaugh surely make them sick even in the perfection of their peace.

Ms. Drake—34%  of our population loves being dumbed down, ranted at by a pseudo-authoritarian baby hippo, and greeted with crocodile tears by Glen baby..  That’s the way it’s been here since long before the Know-Nothing Party of the 1800’s and it’s reincarnation as the current Republican Party. It’s a way of life for many. Don’t think 34% if you can avoid it—listen to Rush and Glen and you’ll be saved by entertainers.

That’s wonderfully worded.

El Rushbo is completely insane.  He just loves to hear himself speak and says whatever pops into his drug addled brain.

Recently he went off on a rant about PDF files that was absolutely incorrect and a clear indication that he is totally clueless and just screams and yells about anything.  Facts only get in the way so he just ignores them.

The truly sad part is not the fat gasbag himself but those that listen to and believe what he says.
