Sarah Palin: Ethics Allegations Are 'Bull Crap,' But 'I Am a Fighter'

Palin decries the ‘politics of personal destruction,’ blasts Obama and Republican Party; don’t count her out of a political future.

Sarah Palin is showing the world that no matter how much people try to keep her down, she’s going to come out swinging every time.

Speaking to reporters in Alaska for the first time after announcing her shocking resignation, to take effect later this month, the Alaska governor told FOX News that her family and state has had to spend far too much money defending her from "bull crap" ethics allegations, and that it’s just too much of a distraction for the people of Alaska. She said President Obama is taking the country in the wrong direction, that "obsessive partisanship" has hurt the Republican Party and that she was treated differently than most political candidates during her vice-presidential run with John McCain — especially when it came to her children.

"Most candidates, most public officials get to look into a camera and say, ‘You better leave your hands off my kids,’" she said. "Well I haven’t been able to say that. And that double standard that’s been applied, that’s been a little bit frustrating."

Palin’s lawyer told CNN that although no big personal scandal contributed to her resignation, controversial jokes by late-night talk-show host David Letterman contributed to her decision to step down. As to what Palin’s future holds, she stayed mum on that — even speculation about a 2012 presidential run — but said she’s "not a quitter. I am a fighter." She didn’t rule anything out.

Palin told the Anchorage Daily News:

It’s a combination of things that has brought me to this place of knowing. I love Alaskans too much to put them through a lame duck session heading into my final year in office; I was going to be honest and tell them I’m not going to run for re-election. I’m not going to let Alaskans go through a year of stymied, paralyzed administration and not getting anything done.

When asked several times by NBC’s Andrea Mitchell how she responds to people who say she’s letting Alaska down by not finishing her term, the governor forcefully said, "You’re not listening to me!"

The Washington Post reports on how Palin’s online "army" isn’t discouraged by her resignation, and how they describe her treatment by the mainstream media as "savage."

Conclusion of this latest Sarah Palin story? We haven’t seen the last of her on the political scene!

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter explains Palin’s exit for wOw here. Our own Margo Howard agrees with Coulter that Palin is now just too big for Alaska.

Libra Lady. Sarah Palin is a liar…In 2000, when she was Mayor of Wasilla, she wrote a glowing letter of recommendation to othe Alaska State Police for her then brother in law. Mayor Palin wrote that letter on Wasilla Mayoral letterhead. You simply don’t do that. That letter from the Mayor’s brother in law a leg up in that job interview. Wonder if she ever did as much for one of her constituents involved in a job search. Doubt it.  So what were we to make of Governor Palin trying to take that very same job her letter go for her brother in law, away from him when he dumped her sister for another woman?  When the Governor’s first Stud (her term, not ours) who is not an elected official made the rounds threatening State Employees to fire this guy. And, when the Governor’s appoint Director of the State Police refused her demand to see all the records of her ex brother in law, he refused on the grounds that it was illegal based on State employee privacy laws, she fired him. Now he was the guy she asked to come out of retirement to be her head of the State Police because he was the most honored cop in the state and had been head of Wasilla’s Police Department. Her excuse for firing him, was that he was not a team player….hahahahahah…During the 2008 Presidential campaign I monitored the political forum in the Ankorage Daily News and one evening found this link in one of the forum posts. The author of the posts said that it had been covertly gotten and given to him to make public because of all Palin’s lies. This was in her ex brother in laws files and many think she wanted that file to remove this letter. Because it did not jibe with all the nasty things she was saying about him in what became known as "troopergate."  Here is a copy of the link for that 2000 letter.

OMG can’t she just go away?? I am so sick of her whining and moaning about the media and just about everyone. She can’t put two coherent sentences. She babbles and rambles and then complains that she is being abused. It is time for her to just go away!!

No unfortunately for us, she is a runner up beauty contestant and a 3rd rate politician. If she didn’t keep herself  in the news she would fade into oblivion, so no matter what she will be in the news complaining away.

I so agree with you, Colleen.  She says the media singles her out more than the big bad men, but she fails to acknowledge that the reason they do is because she rises to the bait every… single… time.  And she never lets it go.  She’s a goldmine of days and weeks and back and forth bickering, with the added bonus of circular and nonsensical rambling, of course they’re going to poke at her any chance they get.  If ever there was someone who deserved a "shut up and sit down" it’s Palin.

Devans00 .

Thank you Karleen S.

I honestly don’t understand why so many are willfully blind to the ways Sarah Palin keeps her "victimhood" going.

In my opinion, Hillary Clinton is light-years more intelligent and competent to be a national politician in a position of authority. She also had her name dragged through the mud and had every action questioned.  But she kept her eye on the prize, let the nonsense slide off her back.  We are all the better for it.  Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton State is now a world leader, representing the USA, respected by heads of state all over the planet.  She certainly wouldn’t be in that position if she’d quit in a huff because people were being mean to her.

Yes, Yes –I ask the same question, why can’t Palin "go away, stop her whining and complaining, her babbles and rambles" plus playing Ms. Victimhood. But, I give her credit on very good manipulating skill tactics for PR. These are great tactics by which to get media to come to her. It creates news coverage plus  continuously builds up her public image.

Hey..it’s the media going to her….she isn’t reaching out to them…she is going on with her life!!!  I mean…how often does andrea mitchell go to Alaska!!!

Like it or not, she made herself a news story and she has become a strong public figure.  What did you expect that she drops tht news and they were just going to not continue the story?  She reached out to her favorite news outlet Fox and granted the interview.  I’m surprise Greta isn’t at that fishing hole with her and Todd.  If she does not want the media circus, she shouldn’t be talking.

Actually………I kinda thought maybe the storry about "Greta and Todd" getting too close might have been one of the main reasons Sarah decided to step down.    =)
