Sarah Palin: Ethics Allegations Are 'Bull Crap,' But 'I Am a Fighter'

Sarah Palin is showing the world that no matter how much people try to keep her down, she’s going to come out swinging every time.
Speaking to reporters in Alaska for the first time after announcing her shocking resignation, to take effect later this month, the Alaska governor told FOX News that her family and state has had to spend far too much money defending her from "bull crap" ethics allegations, and that it’s just too much of a distraction for the people of Alaska. She said President Obama is taking the country in the wrong direction, that "obsessive partisanship" has hurt the Republican Party and that she was treated differently than most political candidates during her vice-presidential run with John McCain — especially when it came to her children.
"Most candidates, most public officials get to look into a camera and say, ‘You better leave your hands off my kids,’" she said. "Well I haven’t been able to say that. And that double standard that’s been applied, that’s been a little bit frustrating."
Palin’s lawyer told CNN that although no big personal scandal contributed to her resignation, controversial jokes by late-night talk-show host David Letterman contributed to her decision to step down. As to what Palin’s future holds, she stayed mum on that — even speculation about a 2012 presidential run — but said she’s "not a quitter. I am a fighter." She didn’t rule anything out.
Palin told the Anchorage Daily News:
It’s a combination of things that has brought me to this place of knowing. I love Alaskans too much to put them through a lame duck session heading into my final year in office; I was going to be honest and tell them I’m not going to run for re-election. I’m not going to let Alaskans go through a year of stymied, paralyzed administration and not getting anything done.
When asked several times by NBC’s Andrea Mitchell how she responds to people who say she’s letting Alaska down by not finishing her term, the governor forcefully said, "You’re not listening to me!"
The Washington Post reports on how Palin’s online "army" isn’t discouraged by her resignation, and how they describe her treatment by the mainstream media as "savage."
Conclusion of this latest Sarah Palin story? We haven’t seen the last of her on the political scene!
Conservative columnist Ann Coulter explains Palin’s exit for wOw here. Our own Margo Howard agrees with Coulter that Palin is now just too big for Alaska.

Very few people knew anything about Gov.Palin before she was thrust onto the scene. Don’t give me that crap. I know better. I also know the librarian was so scared of Sarah that she would not give an interview at first. She turned into an ongoing joke and did not even know it. It continues to this very day. The woman is clueless.
I was looking at her " relaxed fishing photo op". There is Sarah, in brand new waders that have never seen water. How do I know? I have spent many hours fishing for reds in the surf in the gulf and have been on more charter fishing boats that I can name. I’ve bought and sold three bass boats.
There is Sarah. Brand new waders and full make up! Hair is perfect! She looked like she might be ready for the prom! As always, Sarah was trying to put her " I’m just Sarah the Hockey Mom ( wink!) out there." That woman is so totally full of horse sheet it’s amazing she doesn’t neigh and beg for more feed.
" I also know the librarian was so scared of Sarah that she would not give an interview at first."………how do you know this? Did you speak with her? She says differntly in this story… http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=5766173&page=1
Sarah’s family has been fishing there for many years..so she has a fairly clean pair of waders..is that a crime? She dropped in for a day while on her was to sign a bill for a local village. I suppose she should have not taken a shower , combed her hair or brushed her teeth when she knew that the media would be there and been hounding her for comments. Now realyy how many people do you know that wear waders at their prom????
What had this woman done to you personally to generate so much hate????? The left is suppose to be tolerant and supportive of woman…. she certainly has EXPOSED them for what they really are.
And how do you know Sarah’s family has been fishing there for many years? How do you know this? Did you speak with her?
SJ, for a couple of months, Sarah will be on select FOX shows and in very select red states, with her " Higher Calling" tour. The Sarah Family Values Tour! Sure. Bet she won’t go west with that crap story.
By the time 2012 rolls around, people will say, " Sarah Who"? She’ll be remembered just like Dan Quayle. Just a sad joke. Actually, old Dan spent 8 years in the Senate. He even had more experience and respect in politics than Wailing Palin.
Palin derrangement Syndrome at the worst…lunatics they are!
Our friend Brian Maloney at Radio Equalizer has the story. transcript below:
Gee Lizzie…..do you judge all people so harshly on what they wear? I get it ….She defends Palin so she must be a classless hick!…… Alaska and the Pacific NW are more casual. They have no Neiman Marcus and there is not much need for it when it is 65 below zero in the winter. That weather is brutal on someone with RA…. maybe that lack of sympathy is why they call those who live in the contental US the "lower 48".
You wrote this today:
Speaking of inappropriate dressing of your children…check out Malia on her trip. She is representing the USA..this is not a vacation.
Going after the kids, yet. How classless, hypocritical and typical of you.
Key Reason Palin Gave For Quitting May Be False
One of the chief reasons Sarah Palin has given for resigning as Governor of Alaska is that her state’s taxpayers are being forced to spend money defending her government against ethics complaints that would otherwise fund teachers, cops, and road repair.
But in response to our questions, a spokesperson for the Alaska governor’s office just gave us new information that casts serious doubt on this assertion. The revelation makes the resignation episode even stranger, and raises fresh questions about the real reasons for her abrupt departure.
During her resignation speech last week, Palin presented herself as a heroic defender of the taxpayer. She said that money being spent on government lawyers to defend against these “frivolous ethics violations” could be “going to things that are very important, like troopers and roads and teachers and fish research.” Palin repeated exactly the same point this week.
But David Murrow, a spokesperson for the Governor, said in an interview that much of this money was budgeted to the lawyers in advance and would have gone to them anyway, even if state lawyers hadn’t been defending against these ethics complaints.
In response to our questions, the Governor’s office provided us with a detailed breakdown of the millions Palin has claimed has gone to defending against ethics complaints. It does list roughly $1.9 million in expenditures.
But Murrow, the spokesperson, acknowledged to our reporter, Amanda Erickson, that this total was arrived at by adding up attorney hours spent on fending off complaints — based on the fixed salaries of lawyers in the governor’s office and the Department of Law. The money would have gone to the lawyers no matter what they were doing. The complaints are “just distracting them from other duties,” Murrow said.
In other words, while these lawyers might have been free to do other legal work for the state, the ethics complaints have apparently not had the real world impact Palin has claimed, and didn’t drain money away from cops, teachers, roads and other things.
Similarly, TPM reports that there are only three ethics complaints outstanding against the Palin administration in any case — which, combined with the above, casts serious doubts on one of her chief stated reasons for quitting.
Murrow has not responded to folllow-up questions asking him to explain how this squares with Palin’s claims. We’ll update you if he does.
