Sarah Palin to Grace 'Portfolio,' Staff Split

Sarah Palin will appear on the cover of the next Condé Nast Portfolio — and not everyone’s happy about it.
As the economic crisis spreads, Portfolio editor-in-chief Joanne Lipman decided to put the Alaska governor on the glossy business magazine’s cover. Unfortunately for her, Palin didn’t offer any exclusive quotes, nor did she participate in a photo shoot. And some of Lipman’s staffers are wondering why she made such an odd decision, reports Women’s Wear Daily:
The move to put Palin on the cover met with some staff resistance, according to sources.
In an e-mail, Lipman described the story as being about the former vice-presidential candidate and “Big Oil, which is especially relevant now given plunging oil prices and increasing questions about Obama’s handling of the economic crisis.” She added, “We’ve been breathlessly following the saga of Bristol and Levi, too, but alas, you won’t read about that in the pages of Portfolio.”
The issue comes out tomorrow and the Palin pictures come from a February 2008 Vogue photo shoot.
In other Palin-related news, the governor will headline the National Republican Senatorial Committee and National Republican Congressional Committee’s dinner this summer. It’s the Party’s biggest fund-raising event of the year, and Palin’s presence has some wondering if the Party’s signaling she should run for the White House in 2012.

Your party out to talk about speech writers…..at least Palin can deliver one without a teleprompter!
DeB, a little off topic but I thought I’d tell you, Bush is in Calgary Alberta today. Apparently there will be thousands of protesters there to greet him, I wanted to go but my son is sick with the flu.
Amelie, if the tar sands go under, the people in the Maritimes won’t have any money, Quebec will lose much of it’s transfer money too.
Personally, I think the oilsands are a huge part of the economic engine of this country, and they are working on cleaner and greener ways of extraction as well as carbon capture.
I agree. Cleaner/greener!!! I don’t want my Alberta family getting cancer from the long arm of ground water or air born matter either! I would prefer NOT to touch the Oil Sands at all because we came up with something ELSE, but sadly, I think we cannot move that quickly away from an oil-based industrial world.
But the project has been slowed by the economy and the dropped gas prices. A Lot of capital has vapourized lately. Also, it didn’t help when Buffet came to town and decided NOT to invest it seemed.
What was Bush doing there?
Actually there were more protesters than that, however they only focused on the ones that made it into downtown. There were several at different locations around the airport, and there were many signs on cars "Bush Go Home".
Unfortunately, many couldn’t get into the downtown because the major route of Deerfoot Tr. was closed for a time.
