Sean Hannity Astounded, Outraged By Michelle Obama's G-20 Attire

Michelle Obama received plenty of press for her wardrobe during this week’s G-20 summit, and that rubs conservative radio host Sean Hannity the wrong way.

Hannity, who works for Fox News, used his popular program yesterday to admonish the First Lady for dressing up for her meetings with world leaders this week. Said Hannity, quite sarcastically, "Ah, doesn’t that make you feel good in the midst of an economic slowdown: Michelle Obama’s clothes."

He then played that oft-cited quote in which she says, "For the first time in my adult life, I’m proud of my country, because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback," to which Hannity remarked, "Yeah, hope that I can get all these great designer clothes and that everyone will report on it and call me, you know, Jackie Kennedy and Camelot. It’s unbelievable." C’mon, Sean, what do you want? The First Lady of the United States wearing rags?

Furthermore, one of Mrs. Obama’s favorite designers, Jason Wu, expressed surprise when he saw her departing Air Force One in one of his dresses, which leads us to believe she’s not "getting" great designer clothes, but buying them with her hard-earned money.

*Sigh.*  She’s the wife of a Head of State.  OUR Head of State.  Although not elected, she represents the US.  She is operating in an official capacity at the highest international levels.  You don’t wear thrift-store double-knit polyester slacks to these functions… or to a wedding, or a job interview, etc etc….  Believe it or not, wearing clothing appropriate to the occasion is just being respectful.

"Believe it or not, wearing clothing appropriate to the occcasion is just being respectful."

So true Lila.  That is kind of what happened when "loaner" clothing was purchased back in August for a certain candidate when she was thrust onto the national stage.

My ire was aimed at the media back then for attacking Palin for her wardrobe, and my ire now is aimed at the media for focusing on the clothing of the First Lady as opposed to what actually the decisions of the G-20 mean for the world economy.

There are even two versions of ‘fashionista’ watch here on WOW.  But nothing ‘up yet’ on President Obama’s Town Hall meeting in France; or Gordan Brown’s proclamation of a ‘new world order’ yesterday.

I put this on the other thread as well, the fashion talk is all smoke and a three-way dressing room mirror.

I think there are more important things to be concerned with then her clothes….I guess those that are making these remarks are just trying to keep their jobs so they are finding any little thing to pick on….why don’t the mention also then fact that the Obama’s are NOT using tax payer money to redecorate the White House, they are using their own money.

It’s fun to talk about what Michelle wears…if you know what the heck you are talking about. Insanity knows diddly squat about what women should or should not wear…in fact I think he knows diddly squat about most everything.

Making a big fuss over nothing is what the media does best so just ignore what you don’t want to listen to…or in my case turn off Fox news ;)

What do we care a) what Sean Hannity thinks and b) what Michelle Obama is wearing.  As someone already noted, it’s starting to get tiresome.

Michele Obama did nothing wrong!!!  I think it’s great that she looks nice, and think that she is just lovely!  It’s not like she had a solid gold crown made for herself.   I also didn’t care when Sarah Palin got new clothes either.  Enough with this nonsense about people’s clothes.  I like our president and first lady very much and think they are handling themselves very well.  I agree with f p, this makes Hannity look like a whiny moron.  This type of garbage is making people not like the Republican party.  Spoken by a former Republican, turned Independent!

I was excited when "WOW" first came into existence.  But now I see it is predominately a bunch of whiney liberals and nonsense.

Oh, for corn’s sake (as Fred Mertz used to say on "I Love Lucy")!!!!!

Why, oh please WHY is this even a topic to debate on the politics page?  I support whatever Michelle Obama’s clothing choice is, just like I support Sarah Palin for spending money on her clothes during a national political campaign.  What I think is kind o’ sick is the fascination and worship of the woman.  She is a WOMAN.  A wife, a mother, and a career woman.  I don’t care what she wears!

BTWLL, I used to sing that song to my daughter ("I’m too sexy for my shirt" ) when she would wake up and her pajama top would ride up.

A woman is not defined by her clothes in the long run, but by her works.  Even Jackie Kennedy got that and got a JOB.  Let’s give Michelle Obama a chance to take on a few causes (BTW: I think most first ladies come into the White House with a cause to focus on… where’s hers?)

What’s her focus? How about her children and her husband?
