U.S. Soldier Kills Four Troops, Self at Baghdad Base

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

Five U.S. soldiers were killed in Iraq today, making it the deadliest day for U.S. troops since last month. And, in a disturbing twist, the shooter appears to be an American trooper himself.

A U.S. soldier killed four people at Camp Liberty, outside Baghdad, and wounded three others before turning the gun on himself. The official army report makes no mention of the "friendly fire" nature of this tragedy; that was reportedly confirmed by a defense official, says CNN.

Regardless, it’s horrific and our hearts go out to those who lost friends and family.

They have all had enough. Bring them home. They should have never endured this war for lies and greed.

Exactly — this war has been a 6 year atrocity waged by the former administration against our own military and the American people.   Over 4300 American lives lost and $890 Billion American tax dollars lost.

There’s obviously much more to this story so it is hard to comment other than to say that this is unfortunate.   I will wait for more information on this.

I too feel we need to wait for much more to be released about this story.  Currently there is a young man from my Church in Baghdad…We do not know anything about this Soldier, how long he has been there or how many times he has been there…to say he has had enough is jumping the gun.  Should we be there, that is another story of itself and we all know how each other feels about that…Were there now and leaving Iraq now would not be the right answer which is why Obama changed his tune pretty quickly after he started getting the morning security briefings.

Please let try to see what else comes out of this story before we all go haywire.

How did Obama "change his tune"?   Other than perhaps realizing the Iraq occupation was more of a nightmare than the American public realized.

You realize your source is dated July, 2008 — obviously prior to Obama getting security briefings as president.

But, that aside — do you really think it is good for anyone (president or regular citizen) to not change their mind when they get new information?

I’ve never understood the Republican need to stay with one course, regardless of the fact the course is the wrong one……….this is particularly true in the handling of the Iraq War.

Apparently this incident happened at a "stress clinic" at Camp Liberty. The shooter is in custody.

Let me take a guess.  He was on his third or fourth deployment.  There are people who think we should show more muscle in Pakistan and Iran.  Who will we send… the Boy Scouts?

Last year, my neighbor’s son was home on leave from Iraq.  They were driving along on the day people were putting their trash on the curb.  The son hit the floorboard.  My neighbor said, " Son, it’s okay.  It’s trash and nothing more.  There are no bombs."

People just simply do not realize how many tours of duty most of our soldiers (and their families) have had to endure and the far reaching effects on the soldier even when he/she are home……..this illustrates the point.

True that!  This young man’s mother has lost much weight and takes medication to sleep.  It’s difficult for her to watch the news.  When a strange car pulled up in front of their house, she fell to her knees.  Two Army officers did not appear at her door;  thankfully, it was the new preacher making his rounds and at a time when she needed a prayer session.
