What Is Dick Cheney Thinking? Peggy Rometo Speaks

Why is the former vice president compelled to defend the CIA interrogation policies? What does he think of the Obama administration? wowOwow’s Psychic Intuitive provides insight.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney spent much of his eight years in office working in private locations and away from the media spotlight. Now, Cheney has become one of the most outspoken defenders of the national security policies imposed under former President George W. Bush’s administration. As Cheney continues to remain a powerful voice about the need for the CIA’s use of controversial anti-terrorism policies, including the highly debated tactic of waterboarding, wowOwow reached out to Psychic Intuitive Peggy Rometo to better understand one of the most mysterious political figures.

wOw: Why is Dick Cheney spearheading a media campaign to sell his past policies to the American people?

Peggy Rometo: He thinks that it is his personal duty to protect America, and feels justified in defending his political point of view. The impulse to protect America is ingrained in him; it’s part of who he is. This mandate began during his time as secretary of defense under Bush No. 1 — and now, it’s become more than a position. It’s a core belief.

He likes Obama personally, and finds him a formidable political adversary. But he feels he's opening us up to danger ...

wOw: Do either Dick Cheney or George W. Bush have regrets about implementing torture in the past?

Peggy: Cheney has none. He feels adamant that he defended the country and did what was necessary to ensure the safety of America. Bush also feels no remorse, but he comes to this conclusion from a different stance. In essence, he sanctioned these policies because he felt they needed to be in place to protect the country from another 9/11. But as somebody who had very little experience with the military, he didn’t feel entirely comfortable with hearing the details. He was happy to delegate these decisions to Cheney and Rumsfeld, the military experts on his team.

wOw: What is Cheney’s relationship with Bush now?

Peggy: They continue to remain close confidants. Cheney still considers him a friend and ally, and feels it’s necessary to protect the office he held, rather than the individual who held it. He feels compelled to manage the press coverage of their past policies, which Bush is more than happy to leave to Cheney, his military expert. This works out well, since Cheney secretly fears that Bush would say too much or not articulate their position correctly, were he being grilled by the press. In the end, Bush is "over it."

wOw: How does George W. Bush feel about the media hoopla over past torture policies?

Peggy: Bush wishes it would all just die down, and doesn’t want to be in the hot seat on this issue. After all, he reasons, it wasn’t his plan; Cheney and his team formulated it, and all he did was approve it. Therefore, he sees Cheney as the natural spokesperson to field this conversation. Instead of focusing on yesterday, he wants the country to pay attention to what is happening today by being aware of current threats to our national security. But ultimately, he just wants everyone to let the whole thing go.

wOw: What about Cheney?

Peggy: He feels outraged that people are so naïve, and livid that nobody is giving him credit for having had the courage to do what it took to protect our country. He feels that people don’t have a clue about the threat we’ve been under, and that the administration purposely didn’t tell us everything they knew so we could sleep at night. Cheney is speaking out because he wants people to be aware of the intelligence that led to his policies, and he’d do it again. He wants Americans to wake up and be on guard. This is a personal mission for him; he doesn’t believe we may be under a threat, he knows it.

wOw: How does Dick Cheney feel about the Obama administration?

After hearing the speeches of President Obama and Dick Cheney this morning and to  those who took the time to either read, or hear the two speeches, Chaney comes across as a PATRIOT!    He never once apologized for America!

Obama comes across as angry that anyone would dare to question his leadership (or lack thereof).   Obama blamed the previous administration many times.    Dick Cheney came across as well informed and sharp as a tack.   Obama, on the other hand, looked and sounded arrogant.   It is obvious now just how out of his league Obama really is.   America put the wrong people in the White House and America will pay for that through loss of  needed security measures and exorbitant overspending sure to lead to inflation.

Cheney gave an incredible speach. This should be required reading by the entire Obama administration.   They are a bit wet behind the ears.

God Bless you Dick Cheney. Thank you for your service to our country and for protecting our nation!   You are the strong leadership this country does not have now.   You are a clear threat to Obama’s ego and his inexperience.

I fully understand now why Dick Cheney had to speak to all Americans.

Deber…this is the first president who ever spoke against America and put our country down…to do that….there will not be any respect for him by many.

VP Cheney’s speech was for our Country….obama’s speech was for his own ego…..

So true, Libra Lady.   Obama was the first to apologize for America and I hope he never has an opportunity to do it again.   At the end of every day, we are all proud to be Americans.   We would not apologize for our country and yet the democrats sat back and actually agreed with him.

Libra, when the democrats turn against Obama it is going to be ugly.

Funny how this contrast in speeches was perceived so differently, Libra.  What I saw was a great President standing up for the law and the Constitution vs a de-fanged self-serving windbag trying to justify and defend his crimes no matter what the cost to America.  Obviously this is an "eye (wink*wink) of the beholder" kind of thing?

"  ……evils that lurk our country ..obviously he will not sit back and let them hurt us! "……..

You’re waxing poetically this morning, SJ.  Time to face reality.  Dick Cheney is not keeping us safe. He can chirp all he wants, but if terrorists choose to strike again soon, Dick Cheney will not stop them.   Pre 9/11 Muslim men were taking flying lessons here in the USA.  We learn later that the flight instructors reported them for suspicious behavior.  Part of that was the fact that they only wanted to learn to fly the planes.  They had no interest in learning to take off or  to land.  Pretty odd behavior.  Maybe if Dick Cheney and George Bush had checked into that, the horror may not have unfolded.

To think that Dick Cheney alone has been keeping this country safe is ,once again , naivete on your part.

No Maggie…"naivete" is not understanding where the beginnings of 9/11 started. You must read the book "Triple Threat", 1000 Years For Revenge" and "Cover Up" by Peter Lance. The MOST interesting reads ever on this subject. They connect the dots that different administrations missed.

Once 9/11 did come to pass, the Bush administrations hard line and decisions did in fact stop many more attacks. You need to understand much more, than to simply hate Cheney and Bush.

Much more to the terrorists threat than meets the eye.

And you should read the Bob Woodward books.

We caught one at the flight school down in Eagan, MN. Too bad Bush/Cheney/Rice let the rest get through.

Don’t be so sure VP Dick Cheney doesn’t know what is going on with our National Security…you just may be surprised how informed he really is.   Just sayin"!!

wOw: If Cheney had been in power for the duration of the financial crisis, what would he have done differently?

Peggy: He would have moved more quickly by enacting legislation that would keep the crisis from unraveling as fast as it did. He would have pushed through bills instantly, as he did with the Patriot Act, which would have saved the banks and the auto industry — and, most likely, continue to disguise the true status of our economic conditions.

This is about the most ridiculous piece of silliness. Might I remind you that Cheney/Bush  were still IN charge when the meltdown began. And   stating that Cheney would have done this or done that begs the question once again: was he the President or was Bush?   And all this clap-trap about keeping us safe. 9/11 occurred because certain people were sleeping at the wheel––they were not keeping us safe.  Cheney is a man, once touted as one of the best, who has lost his clout, and lost some of his reasoning. I think what he is doing now with all these interviews is somehow pitiable. A last gasp at the end of his reign.

Cheney was the President.  I believe he wants a third term, and that is a major reason he will go on any talk show that will have him.  That may sound foolish, but if Newt is thinking of running, why not Dick?  After all, who else do they have?  Dick must be so disappointed that the FBI worked so well in New York.  Now he still can’t say, " I told you so!"   Nothing would bring him greater pleasure.

My friends, how can we say that we were we safer for the things that did not happen under the prior administration than we are for those things that did not happen under the current one?
