Whoopi Goldberg: Rangel's 'Got to Go!'

Whoopi Goldberg
I like Charlie Rangel, but I think now there is too much stuff to ignore. He’s got to go! And if he goes … can I have his health-care package?

Whole-heartedly agree!!  But whether he goes or not, we should ALL be entitled to his health-care package.  What I really want is his pension…that is what is bankrupting the country!  And no-one ever talks about it!

I agree, Whoopi…

They can’t seem to pass a health care bill for the people…yet they have passed their pay and retirement packages. While folks like me fight for the right to live. …and for the right to pay for our own medical care instead of being forced to pay into a system that is proven to not work for Our People.

I’m tired Whoopi. Very tired, and I have a right to say that.

My surgeon will have this thing that has been growing inside of me out soon ….what angers me is that while I paid multiple doctors who lied to me about my reality for years…I was told this reality was my spinal cord, not my utrerus. And it was a known medical issue by my medical team from a CAT scan I had done in 2007, but hidden from me an my family.

…until I finally found a surgeon with morals, and it will be out of me before the beginning of next week. I thank God, for that reality.

…and I negotiated with my team and hospital myself…without the aid of an insurance corporation that has no value placed for my life, regardless of how much they want to charge me for absolutely nothing. I’m fortunate that I have family who can help me pay for this insanity.

This needs to be addressed. Please help.

Amy, Get every record, radiology/CT/ MRI /Labs etc. from every single doctor, clinic and hospital you have been to and then get a very good attorney. You have an excellent malpractice case. Good luck with your surgery and follow through on what I’m telling you !

Amy,

You’re very welcome. Rainbows happen after the storm when the sun comes shining through.

Hi Whoopi, just so you know I schedule my day around the View. I really like the show and you hit the nail on the head with the issues. Getting to Rangel, I"m not sure what he has done because one cannot always believe what is being said about our politicians. I think it is a shame when politicians who have worked hard for the people end up abusing their office. One has to wonder about the things that politicians have been doing for a long time but just haven’t been caught. I think he needs to go and hopefully with some positive aspects of the many years he has served for the people. The health care, what a joke. We should all enjoy that privilege of good health care. One thing I do not agree with is if he goes to jail like some other politicians have he should not receive his pension etc. Why should someone who has broken the law receive thousands of dollars each month.

Whoopi, these people get great medical and retirement packages and some are only on the job for two - four years.  that’s not fair.  granted we may have elected them, but we did so to represent us not get a life time pension and medical benifits for the rest of their lives.

I agree with you whole heartly we all deserve the same care. We The People are paying for his coverage (our of our insane taxes) and yet we can’t afford to pay for ourselves to get it.  Many Americans have to worry about money from payday to payday and how they’ll get what they need to make it through to the end of the month.  Not those who’ve been elected, and some of them even have the nerve to use our tax dollars to their own benifits, I wonder if they have a heart.

If memory serves, one of our founding fathers said something about democracy not working once Congress realizes they can get their mits on all the money simply by voting.  These guys are supposed to work for us, but in truth, we work to pay them all they’ve voted to themselves…and all they help themselves to.

I agree our congressmen and senators are supposed to be the Voice of the people.  To make certain they do this is up to us.  We have to let them know what we want.  We also have to get assurances they are listening to us.  This means no written form letter to let us know they care, a personal letter that answers our grievances is the only acceptable choice.  If we don’t get this then we should vote them out of office.  Government is supposed to be "of the people and by the people."  Anything less than this is unacceptable. Myself I’m ready to tell my congressmen either do your job our way or get out of office.

Hi Whoopi!

I’ve been following this healthcare reform debate for sooo long, now it’s getting boring.  The public option has been bounced around along with so many other ideas. When both parties can finally agree with something, maybe then…it can get passed. By the way, I’m not an American and here in Canada, although we have socialized medicine, provincial and also known as Medicare, I don’t mind that it is socialized. At least those of us with Healthcare OHIP cards (Ontario Health Insurance Plan. You just show it to your doctor and OHIP pays for your visit.  Even some specialists take the card but unfortunately, OHIP has de-listed other necessary specialists so the patient has to pay out of pocket and that can be expensive.

Sorry Whoopi that you weren’t feeling well today. Missed you! I don’t always agree with some of your beliefs but I still think you’re ONE AWESOME woman!
