wOw Reports: The Best News of the Week – From YOU
Dear YOU,
We launched wOw Reports with the hopes of it growing into a new kind of area for what’s happening in your neck of the woods.
We are thrilled with the overwhelming comments. Please keep the
storytelling and the reportage going … Meanwhile, below are just a few
of the many comments that sparked thoughtful conversation among the
wowOwow community and the staff.
As this section continues to grow, we will continue to find ways to
highlight your wOw-worthy work, and please know that your suggestions
(and even your criticisms) are helping us develop new content on the
site.
Thank you,
The wowOwow Staff

Ah, yes. Anyone who has had to spend a couple of hours on the phone for computer tech support trying to understand through a thick accent talking to "Frank" or "Joe" in India or Columbia curses the day they sent those jobs overseas. I had a long discussion with one of them about our jobs being outsourced and, of course, they defended it righteously because they lives have so improved……but at our sacrifice, unfortunately.
I spent 30 years working my way up through the ranks to the top of my field as an animation designer….one of the few women in the industry, only to lose it to seven other countries. Before that I lost my work as an animator to Japan. I am just one of the many who had to re-invent themselves in my late 50’s in "entry level" positions making a third of my previous income. Never to make up for what I lost. But, eventually, I was lucky enough to find work in another field that is near and dear to me…..working with autistic children. Much more rewarding.
Namastae.

What news matters to me? The news behind the news. Too much news these days contains a high percentage of spin, in content or in arrangement of the story. Too much news reads as if it should be in the op-ed section. I want to know what’s really going on, not what someone thinks sells in Peoria, Riyadh, or elsewhere.

Hey Tee Zee:
BRAVA!
TO ALL ON THIS THREAD:
OMG, it is so good to hear people ‘caring’ about "people". Thanks to what appeared to be an insult/critic, I am now reading "good citizens" writing intelligently, not denegrating but ‘hopeful’ and concerned about OUR country and its people.
Thank you ALL.
I believe both democrats and republicans care deeply about the citizens of the United States as well as those around the world. That has never been at issue. What is at issue and is of grave concern to all is the direction this country is going. This country needs to be fair to all who take personal responsibility in the choices they make for themselves. We need to get back to the pride individuals take in the American dream and that dream hasn’t changed. Americans aspire to get a good education, a good job and the ability to start planning for their families and their first homes. They need to believe that the leader of this fine country will reward those who are not a burden on society those, directly responsible for continuing to take personal responsibility as a boulder in the road. We need to define and segragate those who absolutely cannot control their personal circumstances from those who just simply want to live off the government because that is available to them. Taxing the rich over and over is not rewarding good personal choices. It does, in fact, penalize those who want to be a viable and intregrate part of society.
Fix the broken systems and fix them now before Universal Health Care. Clean up the system and get rid of the freeloaders so that we will have the money to take care of the disabled and elderly. To compound these programs riddled with fraud and abuse by adding a much larger program, in my opinion, is a travesty to all American people.
We need leadership for all people and it needs to be fair.
