wOw Reports: What News Matters to You – And Why?
We are inviting you to share with us – and everyone else – the compelling news events that are impacting your life.
We’ve launched wOw Reports as a place for YOU, the wowOwow.com community, to tell us — and everyone else — the stories that you find most compelling, interesting and important. Whether it’s urgent circumstances happening in your local area or happenings in another country, tell us the news that is most important to you — and why.
wOw Reports hopes to become a new kind of news site — one based solely on a community of shared interests and open discussions. So, let’s get the storytelling started below …

Linda….I bet your Parents were scared to death….it is so very scary when a pedestrian is struck by a car…..I hope you recovered and had minor injuries.
OK, here’s what I want. Instead of the categories "News," "Politics," "Entertainment," and so forth….. But each sub-topic should never appear in more than one main category. I hate redundancy.

I agree with another poster about having a Gardening section. I am an avid gardener and have been for years but I have lots of questions….like now I want to know how to make a pathway to another place in my huge yard starting at my rock garden…..I want it so we can mow over it with a huge garden tractor.
I guess I need to know if I can just use week killer to kill the grass and weeds on the pathway (about 3 feet wide) and then put whatever (no rock please)????? Mulch?? Potash?? I am stumped! Or can I used lime to kill the grass and weeds???
This is why I need somewhere to go and ask lots of people for lots of ideas. (I have two acres of yard) ~~~~>)
LL, I saw that a little while ago and sent an email to Wowowow to post the CNN article. Guess no one works on Sunday.

They’ve taken someone into custody who matched the description of the getaway car.
Operation Rescue, which has led numerous demonstrations at Tiller’s clinic, called the shooting as a "cowardly act." And the National Right to Life Committee, the largest U.S. anti-abortion group, said it "unequivocally condemns any such acts of violence regardless of motivation."
My news issue is President Obama. I try my best to stay informed on everything decision and action made by his administration. I disliked George W, and because of this, ignored anything and everything he and his administration did. That was a huge mistake on my part.
Although I respect Barack Obama, I am learning I don’t agree with all of his decisions. It’s important to me to know what is happening and why.
Breaking news…Susan Boyle was just admitted to the hospital for a break-down. This is so very sad….I wish her well.
This is a cool thread.
I find myself remembering the longest:
- interviews with notable women
- the questions asking about personal experiences and opinions (lighter type of questions), because the atmosphere is very supportive and the personal histories of posters often make me think or touch me. I tend to learn the most useful insights in these "light" places, paradoxically.
Things I’d like to see more of:
- nature/science/tech topics
- animal/pet topics
Things I seldom click into:
- fashion topics
- TV topics
Possible new things:
- the ability to delete your own discussion post. I’ve occasionally regretted a heated response in a political thread and wished to quickly remove it before it added fuel to a fire. The addition of a function to self-remove only your own posts would be nice. (Or an edit button at least, which would also let people fix their spelling mistakes instead of having to post again to correct themselves.)
- The addition of a forum for regional discussion. This could be a place where members in the same geographic area could initiate their own discussions of local news items or even plan real-life meet-ups. Could do good for the positivity of the site. (The website for National Novel Writing Month does this, and it has led to a lot of real-life friendships and an excellent website morale.)
Thanks very much for opening the floor like this!
Beth: …the ability to delete your own discussion post. I’ve occasionally regretted a heated response in a political thread and wished to quickly remove it before it added fuel to a fire.
I agree with this 100%. The ability to delete your own post would be a wonderful addition to this site. It could even put the Community Organizer out of business. There have been many times I’ve wished I could recall something that didn’t need to be said. An edit option is a great idea, too.
I agree with Beth, more nature/science/tech and animal/pet topics would be nice. I also enjoy the personal experiences and tidbits shared here by others.
