Lila, say it isnt so…That is just awful. What has some of these parents come to? Is it kids having babies so they think this is ok behavior…I mean what happened to parents talking to each other when their kids dont get along or just telling your child to avoid the other child?
I am truly shocked that these parents are acting this way and not showing how adults should act…putting that 9 year old girls life in danger, for what? Why? I just dont get it, maybe its not for us sane people to get…
C, I worry about the state of parenting today. I think most parents are still involved, loving adults who teach their kids right from wrong; but there is a significant minority of the clueless out there who have no business raising or influencing young minds.
I have often wondered if the recent prevalence of two-career couples or single working parents, and kids raised by a rotation of day-care workers, may be contributing to today’s clueless parenting. I’m not talking about situations where the parents still have dinner with the kids and help with homework, and do things together on weekends; I mean parents who really spend almost no time with their kids, and leave their upbringing almost entirely to schools, sitters and day-care employees. There have got to be some who fall through the cracks, and some of those are raising their own kids now.
Lila, I wonder the same…I mean I know there are a lot of kids that are now teenagers that were born to parents of a very young age so I am wondering if that also has anything to do with it. They feel their childhood was robbed b/c they got pregnant and now they are living through their kids or worst ignoring them and off doing their own thing…
I know that myself and my hubby both work so our daughter is in daycare 5 days a week and trust me at the cost of it, if we could I wouldnt work but right now that just isnt going to happen…When I get off work I pick her up and she is with us the rest of the night…we may not have dinner around the table but we all eat together, sitting around the living room table :)
I know Mothers especially want to protect their children but when is protecting too much? I truly hpe this woman who gave this 9 year old’s information out is some how prosecuted for it.
My paper listed five books for preschoolers and early readers to keep them busy over the summer. What a wonderful opportunity for a parent to instill a love for reading at an early age. Reading with a child for only 20 minutes a day can give him a springboard to future achievements during school years and his/her adult life.
Today I will read anything. If nothing else is available, the back of a cereal box will do. I owe it to my mom. Our little town had no public library, but a bookmobile would come around. She made certain my brothers and I were there!
S G, that might sound silly, at first glance, but war is what’s silly.
I couldn’t get closer to the fireworks, because I have (apparently) a partial tear in my right meninscus.
I agree war is silly. Sorry to hear about your issues. Hope they can do something for you:) I thought the pics were really well done:)
Rarely do I suggest watching something - as you know - but if you want to be absolutely delighted, have your spirits lifted, and somehow be strangely touched at the same time, please take time to have a look at this … and then let me know what you think of it. Joan
