Are you a little miffed that the Obama family isn't getting a kitty-cat?

I prefer—let reality set in. That way, everyone is affected.

Snipe, snipe. Ugly, ugly. Surely you have better outlets for your general nastiness.

Cats, dogs, ponies, hampsters, whatever they choose to live with is great with me. I am sure they are getting plenty of advise. May their house be as joyful as mine, having animals to share it with.

I love both-cats and dogs and have had both through the years, that were as dear as another child in the family and treated as such. Let them choose whatever is right for their family with no interference from the outside world.

I dunno. They may eventually re-think it. Having a cat might keep some of the rats out of the White House…;)

He wasn’t named Boots — he was Socks! And as a cat person, I was delighted to see him in the White House. But it isn’t my decision to make. Two little girls would undoubtedly want a pet they can play with, and cats really don’t play much, after they’re grown. They’re too busy sleeping.

I love cats, dogs, birds, hamsters, gerbils and bunnies. I wish we had a pet for our kids but my daughter, like Malia, has asthma. So cats are definitely out. Hubby is set on a Boxer, so there may be a great family dog in our future.

Aye aye aye!! Did any of you see the dog house Ellen Degeneras gave Michelle when she visited the show? It was a tiny replica of the Whitehouse complete with a carpet with the Presidential seal on it, a little Presidential poncho, and pictures on the wall of the family and, of course, Ellen.

Ah, dears, I think that women’s attention is best directed at Presidential policy and less at Presidential pets.

i’m a cat girl, but if the obamas want a puppy, they should have a puppy. but what i really wonder is why this is a question at all given what lies ahead of the new first family.

I think a cat or a dog, or maybe both would be wonderful, but I think I will leave it up to them. Whatever suits them, suits me.

A rescue would be great. One of the shelters in DC could help them choose the right dog for the family. It would encourage so many other placements too.

Other. There’s cat folks, dog folks, and those of us who like ‘em all. Not necessary to impose my likes/dislikes upon anybody (oblique reference to CA Prop 8 ☺).
