Spitzer is an arrogant a-hole….but it was also a political hit because he was going after bankers and calling them out for what they were doing….and predicting the mess we are now in.
His reputation is shot. Yes, he got what he deserved. Why prosecute him? When do they ever prosecute the johns? Only the women, including the WDC Madam who hung herself. Was that justice to try her and the likes of David Vitter are still in the Senate. Of course not. It’s disgusting but it is how it is.
No, he didn’t get what he deserved. He is an incredible arrogant hypocrite who obviously believes he is above the law. What a ridiculous ass and a waste of talent.
Totally agree, with the exception of the “talent”. He was not willing to work with the State Assembly or Senate and no one was that sad to see him go, including myself. Totally arrogant to the point where he was caught using the same methods he caught others.
But I’ll bet there are many, even among his accusers who are guilty of just as much malfiesance. I hope Obama’s really as squeaky clean as the campaign leads me to believe. He’s got some real bad actors to confront if he’s gonna get anything done.
Spitzer certainly doesn’t make good husband material, but he probably paid enough for what he did. He lost his job, career, respect, integrity and possibly his family, although loss of family might be the least bothersome to him.
All that brainpower and potential compromised… it’s a shame really.
Spitzer got what he deserved in that he is political toast. Now, he is like the rest of us—-if he wants to be successful again, he will have to work at it and build himself from the ground up, proving himself along the way. Very humbling.
I think so. I think for men like him the public humiliation is far worse than the private prosecution. He lost his job, his family is in crisis, he is considered a “joke”… his arrogance and hypocrisy cost him exactly what arrogance and hyocrisy can cost people.
What Spitzer deserves isn’t possible in our country; however, he merely joins the cadre of “those who were caught,” so common in life. Let’s face it, such is far more acceptable to the males of our species, and they’ll do almost anything possible to accept it. That being the case, apparently he was exonerated from all misappropriation of public funds; I certainly hope so.
What’s interesting to me is that here we are, having evolved millions of years, yet the male species cannot seem to get it through their heads (females, too, but to a lesser degree) that the Roman Church had it right from the beginning (but of course, who else?), avoid the “occasion of sin.” That’s the clue. Human biology forces bonding between two people so involved, and then there is little possibility for avoiding the occasion. It’s almost time that homo sapiens woke up and learned how to “fly right.” No! Left!
The “Roman Church?” “Sin”? How about the fact that some people simply think that they can have it all? Hubris–––inflated ego–––stupidity––and all the rest. Let’s leave “sin” to those who live in glass houses and pray a lot.
Do we even need to ask such a question? As if anyone with any intelligence couldn’t see that, “Of coures not” When our public leaders, especially those that are there to fight the very crimes they themselves are found engaged in, well that begs the different question of why are they not punished for the same crimes others in less profiled positions of shame are?
Why is it that women are arrested for being prostitutes, but the men who paid for their services are only rarely arrested? If they both are participating in the illegal act, shouldn’t they both go to jail — every time? It strikes me as both unfair and sexist!
