Eka,
My Mom was an Emergency Room Nurse(In fact that is how she met my Father) but she told us kids the horror stories of back ally abortions. A devote Catholic herself Craton University Omaha Nebraska sent out to St. John’s in Santa Monica during the war. You could tell by her expressions, that it was the hardest memories she had from all that she saw (She became Head of The ER). All though she could never have an abortion because of her personal beliefs. She has stressed to all that could Hear that Wade vs Roe must never be over turned. The anti Law never stopped the act of Abortion. It made it a horrible and tragic loss of life and talk about expensive on a medical facility. And wealthy people will simply go else where…
And my education came from Slumber Parties too! What memories of my pre teen and early teen years…Frozen Bra’s, Seances Truth or Dare Scary Stories and God forbid you feel asleep, you would be the victim of hand in warm water..That would be good post for wOw Slumber Party Memories!
Jennifer, Thanks for that. Yes, abortions have taken place for as long as women have been having children, and a law will not stop them. NOONE should ever be in a position to force a woman to carry a child, it is too important a decision, and should ONLY be between a woman and her God. They were horrible times back then, and too many young women today, who have no memory of what it was like, take the right to decide when and if you are ready to be a mother for granted.
Tell your mother to keep telling her story.
I read that questionnaire. Then I read that Hillary may be considered as
Secretary of State. If she has to fill out that questionnaire, I don’t think she’ll make SOS.
I can’t believe that Obama would ask HRC to complete that application. That would be really insulting….and the Clintons been vetted with $72 million dollars worth of Ken Starr.
We’d better turn off the illegal-immigrant faucet that’s draining the American economy, perhaps more than even the banking/mortgage crisis. Whether it’s all the social services that we provide for them, or the devalued dollar paid under the table to cheap labor, something’s got to be done. I just worry that the horse is out of the barn, and a depression doth loom.
James — You have touched on one of my pet peeves. I have e-mailed, phoned and been a pest with my congressmen and the President on this issue. I, like you, feel the horse is not only out of the barn, but is running a fast race around the track faster than we can ever keep up.
I have voted against bail out for everybody. What next? Now, it’s the auto industry — who else wants a piece of the pie?
I support helping the auto industry, because saving that industry will have enormous benefits for the US: the potential to create millions of news jobs through alternative energy, not only in automotive, but many other industries, as well. Bailing out some of these other firms, though, is dubious. I feel there are two solutions this nation will have to deal with, eventually: the uneven practices of our foreign-trade partners, and the need to spur job growth through high-tech. If we can lead the way in high-technology, that can help counter the (permanent) loss of manufacturing jobs. But we’re not going to be able to retain any jobs, if China and Mexico are paying their workers $1.50-per-hour. If we’re going to have a global economy, then global rules should be put forth that every participating country must abide by.
Other than that, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln? Your Gators have a colossal collision forthcoming with the Crimson Tide, I see. Cheers.
You’re right, enuff is enuff. The auto industry needs help so 3 million jobs won’t be lost, but I can’t believe that a bailout is our only option. This country is filled with geniuses. Why can’t we come up with something that doesn’t require a taxpayer bailout? A think-tank, that’s what we need. My gawd, they’d be national heroes if they could come up with something to stop the bleeding.
I was already on the pill for medical reasons and back then there was nothing that could kill you from having sex without protection. Those few years between 1965 and 1980 were the first time in history when women were truly free to do anything they wanted sexually with no lasting consequences. I wonder if such an era will ever happen again.
