It used to be, and not that long ago, I wouldn’t dare go to work without them! Since my back surgery, I’ve found a “new” best friend in the realm of clothing (no pantyhose required), low-rise Capri’s! I have three pair of low-rise trousers for work but about twenty pair Capri’s for “going out” and about eight more for “chasing around” town in.

When I worked at the day care it was not comfortable nor practical, When I worked as a waitress we wore pants for our uniforms I wore matching socks to protect my feet.

A total “No” on stockings. Two reasons: I really think they are like wearing plastic bags on your legs (and if you think about it, you are wearing plastic bags on your legs). I lived in California for a year in the mid-90s and noticed that no one wore stockings, so while living back in Pennsylvania now, it’s my homage to living in California. I don’t tan, so it looks like I am wearing white stockings, but I don’t care. After years in button-down corporate America, it’s nice to be much more casually dressed. In cooler weather, I wear dress pants and knee socks to work. No knee-highs either.

No hose for me….. I gave them up in the ’70s as well….. though naught to do with Namath! (hosiery brings to mind strangulation for me) I pamper my feet and blessed with clear skinned legs….and love dresses and skirts. Boots ward off the Chicago winters….. and blessedly barefoot or sandaled the rest of year. Attended a beautiful outdoor wedding this past weekend (temp. 97 degrees with 87% humidity)…. Not a clad leg in site. As to an earlier post, they make wonderful inserts that ward off any problems with having a barefoot. (see summersoles.com!)

OK, Ladies. You all have some to learning to do here. The ‘70’s are WAY GONE and the bare-legged look is way out. The 80’s are gone but were way full of sexy legs in hose. Pantyhose / stockings are wayy-cool and throuroughly enhance the looks of your sexy legs. The hose covers up blemishes in your sexy legs and your pretty peds. Also take care of your nails and soles and heels, ‘cuz we all walk around in bare feet or sandles during the summer and guys don’t want to be present around that otherwise nasty stuff. The rest of the year, ya’ll need to enhance what you’ve been given. The bare-legged look just seems like you don’t care what you look like when you walk out of the house. Throw on some hose and tease the guy next door; perhaps you’ll end up getting a foot rub when you get home from the office tomorrow night. Hose will make their comeback if you only realize their necessity.

Keep in mind, Ladies, that by wearing hose (support hose, escpecially [8-30mmHg compression]) that you reduce the probablility of earning spider veins, vericose veins, edema, and leg fatigue later on in life. So if you want to stay sexy and healthy for years to come, don a pair of support hose. Look sexy while staying healthy…and get a foot rub from your man while doing so.
