How do I feel tonight? A late and lingering dinner in the next state where our favorite restaurant is found, back home just in time to ring in the Times Square New Year with champagne toasts —- and an evening mostly spent in remembering all the great times spent in faraway places — and yet saying that “the good old days” are still really good. No complaints - none at all.
I am very happy right now, because my Maine Coon cat is celebrating the New Year by sleeping in the new cat bed I bought him over a week ago and he’s ignored until now - the start of 2009. It’s a miracle…lol.
Hi Lizzie ~~~ now I know why I get warm and fuzzy every time I see your little guy. I have a tabby cat and sort of inherited a main coon last year. She is the cutest thing ever, but so bad. She’s destroyed my furniture and is always looking for some kind of trouble to get into. This is the second year I didn’t put up a tree because I knew it would be a disaster. I have read that they’re really playful, but jeez. I’m seriously thinking about getting her declawed, even though I don’t really believe in it. What’s been your main coon experience?
Maine Coons are very different. Mine looks like a small lion, with a huge ruff and has become so big. So different from, my other smaller white fluffy cat with the gray face, paws tail and blue eyes. He is like a human and looks at you with this intelligent face like he wants to talk to you, which he does with his meows and I swear I understand him now. He demands a lot of attention, very active, but also so gentle for a male.. They do love to play and can be quite pesty. I know declawing is now a “no no” but he is declawed as the house would be in tatters otherwise, and it never bothered him. He is a house cat - never been outdoors. I’ve had him for over 6 years and he has mellowed a lot, but still so overactive, and makes us laugh a lot. Enjoy yours, as I’ve found my life is happier because of having these two sweet, but active cats.
Thanks for your reply, Lizzie. This morning I saw a leather coat that had been inadvertently slung over a chair for a day pretty much torn apart, and there she was, cuddled up on my bed looking at me with that sweet lion face. So I seriously think it’s time to just get her declawed before she gets any older. I have an older cat who is not declawed so I hope that doesn’t cause a problem; but thanks for telling me that it never bothered your guy.
How do I feel? Sick. Have had a cold since Christmas Eve and lost my voice and had to e-mail someone to call a friend to say I couldn’t talk today because of that. What a way to start a new year.
My BOSS……thought it would be a fun idea to let me have an entire bottle of champagne ALLLL to myself tonight…
…I work at a BAR.

Is the comptuer monitor supposed to be spinning???
Happy New Year Krissi,
Obviously you thought it would be fun to have an entire bottle of champagne by yourself.
Hope you see clearly this morning.
Have a great year!!!!!!
How do I feel today? A lot better than last year (yesterday ;-))! I spend the evening sick in bed and only woke up when the fireworks started.
Thanks for your kind wishes Rainbow, Suzanne and Jeannot. As you can see: They really helped!
Jane, your avatar always brings a smile, regardless of how crummy I’m feeling. I’m glad to hear that YOU’RE feeling better. Being sick during the holidays is the worst! Drink more water …
(Water is my solution for all sorts of ills!) :-D
I am always a little scared at what waits ahead on New Years Day. I was really celebrating kicking 2008 good bye last night and cried tears of relief and joy that we made it through. When I look back I could never have predicted all that we dealt with in 2008. Clean up and good change - if we are lucky- lies ahead. My EKG 3 days ago the doc said looks like I had a heart attack, echo test yesterday so I wait to see what next and my health insurance that starts today won’t cover any pre-existing conditions, and lawyers are clamoring for significant payment on the discrimination lawsuit before they prepare for oral arguments before the circuit court of appeals, I can’t sell my home and if I could no income check mortages are no longer offered which is what we would need since I lost my job. Anyway I do have a lot I am grateful for, my youngest graduated early this December from college with honors, we replaced our leaking roof, the old cars got repaired and will hopefully keep running, we so far have been able to support ourselves day trading, and we had some wonderful family time. But all in all I am worried and scared and hopeful that 2009 will be better.
