I’ll be babysitting for my 2 month old granddaughter, but we’ll be glued to the TV all day. After the baby goes home, we’ll break out the wine and celebrate with a toast.

I have to work at the hospital that day, but will be working with my dear Afro-American friend . We can celebrate there together. As soon as I get home I will sit glued to the TV to see all that I might have missed, and what is yet going on and be very happy.

Merrell! I’ve love that since I saw them on Bill Moyers - he’s such a sensitive guy (Bill). I’m ‘with’ you, tapping my feet and feeling so happy just watching the faces and reactions of our people in the USA who are meeting the Obama Train at their stops from Chicago to DC. What a joy to see people happy, hopeful, excited, looking forward, filled with spirit and love for one another in that cold weather, no less. At times, I’m happy to tears for them - I hope my tears are not are utter relief. Our nation’s been so sad the past few years …no matter what, we have a new start, regardless of party, affiliation, religion, culture, color, sex, money, jobs, or having to use a Port-a-Potty in the dead of winter!

Carmel - I’m the old “Carol J” - can’t see the people that well, but hearing them just so tickled me. It’s like, “We’ve made it - the plane miraculously glided our people down, and today’s Obama Express rolled into DC, and the new technology to use our TVs for the web, music, et al - what an awesome, significant day! That “kitty” is “Snickers.” I had to adopt him out (waaa waaa) back in January when they thought a sudden respiratory crisis was asthma, so I had to ‘shed’ him, and my canine, Bailey — darn it. It wasn’t an allergy! I’m on a ventilator now (late-effects of polio). Now, I’m lost without them but “put the word out to the universe … ” There will be a canine or feline, or both, who find me. Enjoy the week end … we worked so hard for this, and our people deserve the best, now.

Hi, Carol, glad to know you’re still with us. Hugs to Snickers. I just read that Obama will be using the same bible that Lincoln used to take his oath of office.

Happy Obama Year, Carmel! Our 8-year National Nightmare is Over! And we have elected a smart person of integrity and vision! We actually have a chance to lick this economic crisis and regain our moral center!

Glued to the TV. This is an historical event and the excitement just keeps building. I am looking forward to having someone in the White House who is willing to tackle these huge problems. And, I know his speech will be terrific. It’s been too long since Americans were this happy and excited about an elected official. This is truly something special.

SPEECH? Brooklyn Gal, are you baiting me now? lol Obama’s speechwriter: http://www.politico.com/blogs/anneschroeder/1208/Jon_Favreau_just_anothe…

Absolutely not. I happen to love his speeches. And Obama does write the majority of his speeches. But if I recall, you were against Obama right after Hillary conceded. The Farvreau incident came much later. I agree what he did was in bad taste. But, it was not a sexual assault. Favreau apologized to Clinton and I am sure he must regret that action because she is now a very important, if not the most important, member of this administration. She will do more to change the history of this world in this position than she would have ever done as VP. And in 8 years will be seated in the Oval Office.

I disagree. I don’t think Hillary will ever be president now. Yes, I have always been against Obama. Still too green. His most recent decisions continue to prove so. (botched bailout) I would’ve voted for him in 8 years after he got real experience beyond campaigning about how great he is, aided by speeches written by that man. I do however believe it is a sexual assault. Imagine if that photo was of your mother and not Hillary Clinton and then tell me the president elect should’ve casually dismissed it and happily promoted the man who did such things to head speechwriter in the West Wing, as his operatives purged the Internet of the evidence. You have to get to page 35 on Google now before it shows up. Brooklyn, I am thrilled Dems are back in power again, however it is bittersweet that these things are left unanswered. It’s exactly the way the Republican administration managed things for the last 8 years. I worry that so many Dem voters don’t hold the leadership to a higher standard.

To say I disagree with you on all your points would be an understatement. Clinton was treated worse by her own husband, so no I don’t see this as a sexual assault. I see it as stupidity. Obama did not mismanage the bailout money, Paulson did. He promised oversight, but failed to follow through. So don’t put that on Obama. Had the bailout not happened, the market would have crashed. I really think if you start having a positive outlook, and not blame Obama when he is not even president yet, you may be in for a very pleasant surprise. Give him a chance to lead. I don’t expect miracles from this man, but I do believe he is going to bring this country back to prominence.

the 1st bailout vote failed. Obama lobbied the black caucus to pass it - without oversight - it was quick and foolhardy. and the markets have bombed. good grief! re: Jon Favreau’s grope of Hillary Clinton: until men face consequences for their demeaning behaviors directed at women they will continue doing so. and we will never experience equality
