We cant wait to see what happens up here too! We are taking quite a hit to our economy…mostly non-confidence issues that are bringing everything to a slow crawl up here. Very disconcerting. Can’t wait to see if he can do what he wants.

Happy New Year to you too, Ms. Dooley. And I’ve been enjoying your new wow avatar. Very fun. Let’s hope I still feel like smiling after I’ve got a few weeks of home health aid work under my belt. This should be interesting. Ha! I’ll be away from wowOwow while I’m at Mother’s, but at least I’ll have Henry at my side…or at my feet. Enjoy the innauguration!

I intend to continue to wish that the right people in power continue to do their best for those that deserve it, and to put some decency back in the term “politics,” since words can go along way, I hope the whole world watches and marks the day with their endless support for everything this world needs, in every which way they can. Somehow, a sense of dramatic mode has been given to this new presidency in the U.S. I wonder what I will have to say when it hands over it’s work to the next president? In the meantime, too much has occured that has proven the need for a shift in the business as usual affairs. I for one would very much like to see a smile on very many faces that have lost theirs because of bad politics and politicians. All the best.

Here’s the Washington Post Survival Guide to get through the whole Inauguration weekend through the Big Day itself. Unless a person lives in the area, one is not going to get a car in there, so a lot of planning is required. But, what fun it would be to be a part of it… http://voices.washingtonpost.com/inauguration-central/

I’ll be busy all day trying to steal every possible moment I can to peak at the TV. I’m confident that whatever I may miss that day, will be repeated by the news networks, continually, for many days following. However, it’s so much more exciting to see it in real time, as it actually happens. My fervent hope is that Washington will be blessed with civilized weather conditions that day. It’s freezing over practically all of the nation now. I hope it lets up and I hope they won’t be seeing their breath as they speak. I hope everyone wears a hat. (I don’t think it will rain).

Yes, I will be watching the ceremony as a time to celebrate - how lucky we are that every 4 or 8 years there is a peaceful transition of leadership. With change there is always hope for a better future. Several times there have been men elected I have not voted for but I always watched the ceremony as a validation of our country.

Self-employment is a beautiful thing at times like this. I’ve given myself the day off, and intend to spend it in front of the tv with mimosa in hand. Tuesday evening, I’ll be attending a black tie celebration in my city, complete with dinner, dancing, champagne toasts and lot of fun!

One of the luxuries of being in top management with no one really above me, is I have the freedom to do what I want for the most part in my work day. Which means from sun up well after sun down it will be All Inauguration Coverage. Cable TV, radio, online webcasts, blogs, papers….every media outlet covering it, I will watch, reach and listen. I will get none of my actual work done on Tuesday and I make no apologies for it. I’ve been waiting 48 years for this moment, I deserve it! :-)

Go for it, Belinda! Wish we were all together for a big toast of the bubbly!

Belinda — have a glass of bubbly for me! I have to work on Tuesday, and have a couple of projects due, but I just recently resumed working and am happy to have a job! But if I could, I would be glued to the TV.

I’ve just finished packing because I’m off to New Hampshire later today to attend the memorial service on Sunday for my late dear friend, Ann, who died on New Year’s Day. I spoke with her two days before she died, and I know she wanted to be alive to watch the historic inauguration of Barack Obama as he is sworn in as President. Like Obama’s late father, my friend was born in Kenya; her mother from the Kikuyu tribe and culture, and her father who was Irish, born in a small town near Dublin. Both are in their late 80’s, and they are deeply devastated by their daughter’s death. Yet, despite their grief and mourning, they (and fellow Kenyan’s) will be celebrating Obama’s Inauguration because this is what their dear beloved daughter would want. I’ve decided to join my son and his wife - Ann’s daughter, on their return trip home to San Francisco on Monday, following special endowment services on behalf of Ann’s family - contributions which will go to the Sant Bani Ashram in Sanbornton, New Hampshire, which Ann belonged to for many years. I will be in San Francisco for several weeks, and while there, I will celebrate the Inauguration on Tuesday with my son, his wife, and some of their friends and family members who will be staying and visiting in the USA for a while. I feel comforted knowing that my late dear friend, Ann, will be joining us in spirit; joyfully celebrating Obama’s Inauguration… as I know she would want us to. It is a celebration, which I am looking forward too!!!

I will mark the inauguration by working. Nothing could be more boring than this BS, we’re simply trading one lying politician for another. When will people finally realize we as citizens no longer have a say in our government? Popular vote means nothing. Had the peoples’ vote counted, Nixon would have beat Kennedy by a wide margin. Wake up America, your Country is being stolen from you while you sleep.

So…what’s your alternative, Jim? Move to New Zealand or pitch in and get re-involved instead of bellyaching about the situation? What are the solutions you want to see offered? Be specific, please.
